I was at www.sunrayengineering.com today and saw their new 1550 knuckles they are building.

All I can say is Giddy-up!

They had them nex to a standard D60 setup and it looked like a D60 next to a D44.

They are designing their own knuckles in house and will be able to use these with their 1 ton 5 on 5.5 or 6 on 5.5 hybrid axles.

Tom says he thinks they will even be less expensive than the standard D60 stuff since he won't have to source donor axles.

He designed them mainly for those that are running rear steer D60 axles.

They are HUGE!

awesome now i know what i will go with if and when i ever do rear steer. a set of 1550 ctm's would hold up just fine in the rear. piss on rockwells

those would be sweet and i be a set of alloy axles could easily be made for them. the cool thing about using removeable yoke is if you did happen to break one of those giant joints and it messed up the yokes, you can just replace the yoke and not waste the entire shaft. any idea on cost?

What's the whole axle cost?

I would squash a lot of bugs to get my hands on a set of shafts with removeable yokes!

Man, I neeeeeed that.........

If you are going to make custom knuckles for 60s why stop at 15 series I would just make weld on flanges. One side for round tube and the other for square that would bolt together. Then you could put rockwell outers on a 60 and have a real set of U-joints without all the weight of those huge top loaders. Ofcourse your drive shaft wouldn't come in 6 inches higher but it wouldn't be too bad if you ran one of those weak ass high pinions! :bounce2: :shaking:

Looks like the guys at Sunray engineering are up to some good things. However, I know the 1510 joint and I think the 1530 joint use the same size bearing cap as a 1480 u-joint;but, with a longer cross..So doe sthe 1550 series joint have a bigger bearing cap along with a longer and wider cross?

i recieved an e-mail this morning and this is a complete knuckle assy. these joints will not fit in a standard 60 knuckle assy. they are currently not offering alloy shafts either, although i'm sure it could happen. they did not have a price as of yet and they are not for sale as of yet. they did say they would be ready in the very near future. so.....

You could call up Mark Williams and get some double splined 300M shafts from them for this setup. It would be spendy!

Are they using Spicer yokes or custom?
