i searched and all i could find were some " i dont think the driveshaft will fit" answers. has anyone done it yet? or at least unbolted there case and rotated it to see if the driveshaft or shifter mount will clear the "buldge" on the 420? i also have a full width front axle that would put the driveshaft around 3" more offset, than say a wrangler width axle, away from the trans if thats the problem. thanks for any help you can give. :D

I would bet that you could turn it up enough so that the lowest part of the 300 would be the same as the lowest part of the 420. My 18 is close to that way stock and clears and the 18 is only about 1" lwer than the bottom of the 420. Does anyone know if the front output is the same distance from the input on a 300 as it is on an 18 or 20? What I mean is there any chance the 300's front driveline any further over?

I've sold my clocking ring kit to plenty of people using them on 420's- it's one of the easier granny 4-speeds to do. Having the yoke moved over with the wider front axle is also in your favor. You can just remove the front shaft from the t-case and test- for starters move it up 3.25 and ouboard 1.125 while still connected to the axle- this will give you a good idea of what you will get. Clocking more than that will not get the t-case any higher than the belly of the 420.
good luck!

IF you find a way let me know, I did some research into this not to long ago and what I found out was that my front drive shaft would hit every time.

i read that thread. so your d-shaft doesn't fit? would you have enough room if your front diff yoke was offset farther to angle the d-shaft away from the trans?

this should be topic of the week. I think everyone runnin this combo is interested
Has anyone tried clocking it flat and running a 2 piece driveshaft to clear the hump? I dont have the adapter yet so I can't piece it together to see if it would work

I have my 300 clocked almost completely flat. My 420 is a 67 version so it has the ribs on the case, I had to grind the bottom rib off of the hump. I have never had the front shaft hit the tranny, doesn't seem like it could even under extreme articulation.

The absolute worst case scenario is that you run a 2 piece drive shaft which would clean the belly up even more.
remember that when the 300 is clocked up it moves the yoke out 1 to 1.375 inches which helps.
front axles which have been narrowed on the long side only move the DS yoke towards the vehicle centerline and hurt the cause.
It's real easy to check your situation by testing as i described in my earlier post.
People are running clocked 300's with 727 based trannies- there is no tougher application than that.
Good luck!

I wonder if its dependent on which adapter your using, I know with my Novak when I looked into the clocking ring I would have to grind down the hump on the tranny inorder for my drive shaft to work.
Maybe with the advanced adapters one which is an inch and half longer it would work.
Anyone have pics of their clocked set up?
