So, as you may know, I got my eye on the SV 650. Cant wait. Green light from the boss. "that's a go Mavrick!" Anyway, for shit's and giggles, I spread the local classifieds for bikes hoping to find an already aftermarketed SV (before Welby's bud's post, which I would have tried to swoop on) and I cruised over to the BMW portion. I have major history with these bikes. Not really looking for one, but I always check that section just before I completely ignore the Barbie Davison section and start looking again when I see "KTM". Anyway, I see "93 R100 GS..." blah blah blah... I'm like... Cool, that's what I had. 46k. Lots of goodies... Well it's in my price range... WTF, I'll call. Called. Recognized the voice. I'm all.... "is this Dick?" He says... "is this Jeff?" Jaw hit floor. IT'S MY OLD BIKE!!!!!!!!!!. Sold it to him almost 4 years ago with 36K on it. He is the coolest 70 year old dood on the planet. Found out he's dying of Lukimea (sp?) and had to off it. How'z that for irony and our destiny? Nothing hit me harder than him dying. He reminds me of my grandpa.

Anyway, he put another 10k on it. Lost it on a leftie and left minor scrapes and bruises. No biggie. Other than that, it's the same bike with upgrages. He put a GIVA trunk on it (which used to make me :barf: but, I used it today and fell in love.) and a taller windscreen which I will lower. He threw in a GPS and liners for the Krausers! (saddle bags).

My wife and I's first date was on this bike. I proposed to her in the middle of the blackrock playa on this bike. My wife nearly cried when I told her we were getting it back! (I know... I'm lucky :flipoff2: ) I'm back in heaven and ready to get it awn. Anyone with desert wanderlust... let me know. I'm back in (my old) saddle. Sorry it was long, had to share a great story.
