: 40 blinker prob
mobiltoy 06-19-2002, 06:44 AM My 40 is being put back together after a mostly frame up and the passenger side blinker will not work if the headlights are on, but will work fine if they are off. Both sides work with the engine running and off. The wiring harness was not touched. All of the dash knobs are behind the dash for now I am ready to paint. Any ideas. Mobiltoy
texican 06-19-2002, 07:09 AM THEY GROUND THRU THE MOUNTING STUD ON THE BASE, CLEAN UNDER THE LOCK WASHER, AND RE TIGHTEN, YOU CAN CHECK THIS BY REMOING THE LENXE, AND RUNNING A JUMP WIRE FROM THE NEG BATTERY TO THE METAL ON THE BASE OF THE BULB.
REASON IT WORKS WHENTHE LIGHTS ARE OFF, IT GROUNDS THRU THE PARK LIGHT CIRCUIT, UNTIL YOU TURN THEM ON, THEN IT LOOSES THAT PATH.
BUTCH
woody 06-19-2002, 09:28 AM Butch shouted the correct answer...ground. Some time with a wire brush and taking the lamp off will work as well. I've had ground problems before....irritating. I've yet to need a separate ground wire, but nasty corrosion may warrant.
texican 06-19-2002, 12:34 PM I'M NOT SHOUTING.......my NAPA program here at the shop requires cap lock, if I'm rushed, it is because I forgot to unlock them, cut the newbie a little slack:flipoff2:  :) :usa: :roxy: :vader2: :bounce2:
hey these are fun.........hope they don't have meanings I'm not aware of......

just be careful with :roxy: , she really has a meaning in the chit chat forum, or, just venture in and use it unknowingly, someone will get ya!:D :flipoff2:
Eskimo 06-19-2002, 12:47 PM be careful with the :roxy: That's Roxy's (roxywheels) own smiley, and she doesn't like it used in vain...
Other than that, I'm sure you've deduced that :flipoff2: is the official PBB salute/greeting.
texican 06-19-2002, 01:07 PM so what is Roxy's face mean over in chit chat? Not that I plan on venturing over there......
Butch
woody 06-19-2002, 01:47 PM hey butch.... :flipoff2:
bwahahahahaha!
Sorry....had to peg the newbie just a bit....heck, I thought my "Butch shouted the ...." was pretty subtle ... :D :D :D
mobiltoy 06-19-2002, 07:11 PM I know this is an odd question with possibly many answers. I will try the ground solution as soon as I can. The fenders are new though, I guess it could be the primer or the undercoating! Thanks again. Mobiltoy

the moderator over there, very sweet unless your a dumbass, and very well liked. the smiley was made just for her.
texican 06-20-2002, 07:57 AM If you have doubts, try the jumpwire thing I posted first, easiest way to test ground problems.

wngrog 06-20-2002, 08:28 AM This is a good smiley for Butch:rainbow:
noonan 06-20-2002, 08:45 AM had that problem with my 79 f-250 too. tell tale sign of a bad ground. I had to replace the rear connector, which was 28 bucks from the dealer!!! unbelievable, but hey it fixed it. I was going to try and rig a cheapo 3 dollar chevy connector to fit, but hell it last 20+ years with the ford connector, might as well give it another shot.
