I have the same question. I have an 89 fullsize Jimmy that I am 1ton converting and would like to run the hammers but don't know if I will make it without wrecking the body.

I think you would be ok on most of the trail but there is one pinch spot that unless there is a way around, you can count on some serious body damage. Only been on it once though so don't take my opinion as the gospel.

Then I would not worry about it, what can not be driven through can be scraaaaaaaaaaaped through:D
Just carry spares:flipoff2:
There is a pic somewhere on here of the pinch I am talking about, don't remember where though.

I'm also trying to get a friend in a linked Heap near Pomona to come as well. He's got a trailer- no tow rig... Trying to increase participation among the good. :flipoff2:

It is/was a 73 Blazer owned by the guy that started this thread. He drove it from OC to the hammers, beat the shit out of it, and drove it back home, like he has done many a time.

Its slower than fawk too, its an old tow truck winch, only 10 or 12k lbs.
beeter is probably almost as hardcore as tim hardy. He drove home this trip with a broken front main leaf spring that was wrapped together:eek:

He's got a plexiglass windshield and a removable front end. He almost got written up a Glamis last year but the cop didn't want to write a two page ticket.

10-30-2007, 10:20 PM
No, its safety glass, he didnt want a cop to have another reason to give him a ticket.
