I have swapped a 350tbi, T18, Dana300 (4:1) in my CJ7 and I havent tackled the issue of the tranny mount yet.

Would a similar setup to the one below work well to control the amount of torque my drivetrain will produce or do I need to incorporate some type of torque arm?

That mount doesn't appear to have any dampening parts on it. I'd think you'd want
some shock/insulating characteristics to keep
from breaking parts.
Even seen how strong a motor can be running
near 100-to-1 considering torque? I'm amazed
most stock motor mounts don't serperate more
often.

I'd put some sort of dampner in there. But
it is a very clean application..

The only thing I don't like about it is that there is no rubber in the mount. I think that a poly bushing or a simple flat piece of poly or rubber on the mounting surface would really make it a lot nicer.

Thinking about it, I'm also not real sure if I like the idea of having the mount pad hinged to the x-member. To me that seems to be a situation where the tranny could move it self arond.

It looks like it probably does have rubber in it, Where the long single bolt goes through the tube, where the tranny mount and crossmember meet, It probably has a poly or rubber bushing. Just what it looks like to me. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Yeah it looks like there is some bushings there in the pic.

I plan on having my bushings where the crossmember mounts to the frame.


Still looking for input if a similar design can adequately control torque.

the mount looks super clean and compact, i like it. like you said i would also poly mont it to the frame. this one doesn't seem to removal friendly.

I would consider a mount that was a little more directly under the mounting point on the back of the trans. Why add multiple directional torque issues.
