is the tbi in a 305 and 350 the same or are they a different computer?

Depends on year, trans, etc--they could be the same ECP/PCM, but the internal PROM will be different.
The PROM's are easy to swap.
Also, the injectors have different flow rates.

its an 89 305 and the 350 is from an 88 so just injectors and then the prom.

(psssst what is a PROM?) is that program?

There is a little cover on the ecm, under that is the prom. (chip)
An '88 and '89 should have the same ecm, 7747. Just the prom is different.

On the 7747 ecms you can swap it, there are a few other ecms like that, most I believe are soldered in.
