Yes, Im gonna post this in here since realistically its a socal event and doesnt draw from too many other places.

Dates are November 9th thru the 11th, this is Veterans Day weekend.
This event is a major fundraiser for Cal4Wheel's southern district and benefits C4W and its efforts to preserve access to public lands all over California...
Come on out and enjoy the Panamint Valley and everything it has to offer.

I will be arriving on Thursday, probably before noon and leaving Sunday AM.
I dont usually do the organised runs so if anyone wants to get of the beaten path with me, we'll work something out.

More info can be found here...
Panamint Valley Days Website (http://cal4wheel.com/pvd/2007/index.html)
They are now doing online registration. Makes it super easy to register.

Post up if you plan on attending or have any questions.

See you there.

I will be out and will be help out with some of the runs. It's always a good time and good people. We will be doing a night run up Isham on friday, not an official run.

Nope.. My Dad passed away last month and all of us "kids" are helping my Mom out in Oregon.

Trust me, I love that area!! I had hoped to bring my Dad out there some year. I did get to take him wheeling in Death Valley, but he really would have got a kick out of Panamint. He brought us out to Death Valley every year since I was a new born, but we never did much in Panamint.

From SBD up the 15 to 395 then ???

The map is terrible and the website says nothing about actually getting there.

I found Nadeau Rd and Slate Range Rd on Google Earth, but no campsite was visible

:(

It's very easy to get there. off of 395 you make a right on trona. its right after red mountain. stay on trona till it dead ends at 178 go right you will go through trona and after you come down into the valley you will make a left on nadeau and a right on slate. there is no camp ground, but you will be able to see the lights as soon as you drop into the valley.

Update for me.

Looks like theres a chance I will not be able to get out there until Friday nite or Saturday early AM.
My plan for Saturday is to take a walk in the canyon, as far as my kid will let me go. If you want to join us, there's always room for more. I took a bunch of people up there last year and we had a great time.

If I can get up there early enough on Friday I will be tailgunning the Big Four run, but it's not looking good at this point.

On the directions, the committee does a pretty good job of signing the intersections of Trona rd/Nadeau rd, unless someone takes them (has happened before).
Once on Nadeau it is about 7 miles (mabye a little more) to Slate Range Crossing. Slate Range Crossing is a bladed dirt road and there is no county sign at the intersection, only the C4W sign. Daytime, follow the dust, nighttime follow the lights.

Ill be in my Waggy, ya cant miss it. CB ch5. FRS 5/5. FRS is usually on me all day.
