The Mole 06-19-2002, 11:31 AM what do you get when you are motivated to build and have the money to do it right? you get this! i'm new to this forum and i kinda jumped in on everyone elses ideas to create this one. with the generous help of my good freind Brian, the trail rig concept is at a new high for me. it started as a rolled 88 1/2 sami missing alot of things. let me just tell you what we have done to it;
- Toyota axles 4.38
- GM altenator upgrade
- full roll cage, custom built
- snorkle through the passenger side dash
- positioned axles 6 inches forward on the front and 4 inches on the rear (extended frame both directions)
- ramsey 6000 winch
- moved gas tank to above the frame
- repositioned battery to behind passenger seat
- and yes we made its a flat bed!
its still in the rough stages of creation

lilZookithatcould 06-19-2002, 02:37 PM Inventions are great, but if your gonna call it a sami; shouldn't it at least look somewhat like one? What are you gonna do about the wimpy 1.3L. Thats what I can't wait to get rid of. VW turbo disel swap!!!!!!
cooljosh 06-19-2002, 04:21 PM That cool it looks so much like my zuk its amazing but mine is black and its alittle wider thats cool i like it Josh
squirrelman83 06-19-2002, 04:57 PM Looks pretty sweet. How about a side shot? ~Steve
cooljosh 06-19-2002, 11:44 PM What t case are you runnin? And how low is that thing with the 36's ? Thanks Josh
The Mole 06-20-2002, 06:27 AM pretty much bone stock on the motor and transfer, the engine only has 80,000+ and for some reason it really turns those 36's. its weird, when we were building and decided to go 36's (out of convience) we were like "no way is this thing gonna turn these tires, haha". im ready to do some upgrades in the area of this but i would like to see it run outside sometime, hopefully tonight.

Looks like a Samurai to me:flipoff2: Plus I'd call a Tube Buggy with a 1.3 a Samurai before I call a Samurai tub with a VW TD one:flipoff2:

Pappa Smurf 06-22-2002, 05:04 PM keep the 1.3 or get a rebuilt 1.6 you could buy a running samuri as muchas it's going to cost for a peice of ship:barf: vw swap to much problems with over heating and crapget a grs2 or a sumo and you'd be perfect:smokin:
The Mole 06-23-2002, 05:31 AM well, i went out with one of my buddy's yesterday (spring-over yj w/ 35's) it was really nice to be able to do things the first time....i tried steep hills and some mud and the truck made it through it all like nothing. i had to help the jeep a couple of times becuase he wasnt ass fortunate as i. also forst time wheelin' with a clutch, very different from my previous automatic.:p
rockzilla 06-23-2002, 07:24 PM hey, i like it, you need to add some rear down tubes on the cage and some sort of tool box or something to carry some parts and gear, interesting flatbed:rasta: :smokin:
here's to ya!
DaveKerwin 06-24-2002, 01:29 PM Mole, lookin good. Glad to hear it did good offroad. I remember wheeling for the first time with a manual after being in an auto for three years. It was weird at first but now I prefer it. That thing keeps lookin better and better. I agree with the guy that said to make a compartment for storage under that flatbed, or something where you can put things together so they don't bounce around.
