I'd venture to guess the number one selling shackle flip on the market today.

I'll let the pictures do the talkin'.

First generation Chevys 67-72.

http://diy4x.com/cart/image/cache/First%20gen%20shackle%20flip%20n%20switch-400x400.jpg

73-87 chevys. 1/2 and 3/4 ton pictured and 1 ton available.

http://www.diy4x.com/images/shflipkit.jpg

This is an older photo. Stock units all have the DIY4X logo in the center plate. We do customize the center piece if ya want us to. We've done all kinds of bizarre stuff in the center but hey, that's what its all about making your truck "your own."

All kits ship with bracketry, captured nut strips, grade 8.2 serrated flange bolts and greasable poly urethane bushings.

Don't forget to add some greasable bolts to your order!

$170-$195 with or without shackles.

No idea really. Call me and we can do some comparisons and see where things fall. It may be possible that these or one of the other models may work.

Works excellent with the B52 kit. Rear stock 52's in the front get you a 4" flexy lift up front.

Well something like this, we got a little more out of it as the springs broke in a bit more and some brake line lengths were sorted out. Not too bad for stock springs.

So I bought a set of these, wow these are beefy, would recommend to anybody. Just be sure to order the shackles with the flip. Also the flip kit doesn’t come painted, which is cool, I painted mine red.
the diy logo didnt look like this, it was more like cursive

Can you be more specific IE: What vehicle and did you swap axles?

Edit: I see you have a 79 K10, did you swap in a 14 bolt by chance?

drive line id too long.

This is where your losing me.

When you lift the rig, your driveline should end up too short. Just the physics of the beast. Something isn't right. Shoot some pictures and email them to me and we'll do what we can to help you figure it out.

As far as driveline angles, yes. Perches would fix or a shim would also fix it, within reason.

Deal with the angle first, and see where your length ends up.

That's definitely not good!

I have no idea what would cause the pinion to roll that far on you.

Don't suppose you have before the flip photos?

Shorter shackles would help. Looks like you have crosstied 6" shackles. You could get away with 4.5".

Perches would correct your problems without messing with the shackles.

Only other suggestions I can make is to take a good hard look at the axle housing. Has any of it been altered? Have the tubes spun in the housing? Make sure the spring center pins are fully into the hole in the perch. Inspect your leaf springs for bent or damaged leaves. Front hangers for the springs are stock and unaltered.

this is a common problem with but typicaly with long beds.

it also looks like you shackle is longer than 4", which will push the rear down farther too.

simple geometry, the father you pivot some thing the more angle it will create.

you can lower the front of the springs to bring it level and take out the add a leaf.
you can shorten the rear shackle.
you can rotate the axle.

thanks for the help, i think imma weld on the perches put the pins in the inch and a half hole and see where we are, if i have to ill get drive line shortend up.

would having the rear end higher than the front of the truck play a role in this??

trkklr77
03-13-2009, 04:47 PM
yes and no, if you lowerd the rear via shortening the shackle then yes it will help. if you raise the front to meet the rear then no.

ty,

wow talk about highjacking a thread, sorry diy, i love the flip kit i have recommened it to everybody, i hope that gives you more bussiness. once i get in your perches ill pm you on how it turns out. TRK your the man, thankyou for your help, i guess i just have to take it one step at a time. the perches i orders allow me to move the axle back up to 1 1/2 inches so once i get them on ill go from there. Ordered perches from DIY of course. :D

No, this isn't common. Most guys find that the flip will rotate the pinion about just right. I have flipped the shackles with this kit for every truck the shop has save one and several for customers and have never seen a pinion angle end up like the one you pictured.

Some of this does depend on what particular parts your using in your combination.
