: Picture Request. Street Driven Tacomas....
Logan80 10-11-2007, 01:20 AM I'm looking at buying a 2001-2004 4x4 Tacoma to tow my boat and my samurai with. I'd like to see some pictures of lightly modified Tacoma trucks. Small lifts, 33's or 35's, etc. Nothing too crazy. I want to make the truck a good hunting rig, but be VERY streetable. I won't use it for wheeling, it'll be too expensive :D.
so what's the pic request for? you've never seen a lifted toy on 33's?
KJFrame 10-11-2007, 08:09 AM ya i can post mine but its sas and on 38's. i drive it every day tho.
Gslander 10-11-2007, 02:09 PM ill bite. Heres my DD taco on 255/85/16's I love it, its aromoured to hell and i follow my buddies with ease who all have bigger/more hardcore rigs than mine. Getting ready to drop marlin ultimate dual boxes in it!:D

Mosephus 10-13-2007, 09:11 AM Hit by a meteor.
Wow! How did you know?
Actually, it was layed over on it's side and slid backwards into a steel fence. Some one pulled in front of him and he put it in a ditch. Insurance Just totaled it yesterday :shaking:

SinisterTaco 10-14-2007, 12:00 AM My wee Tacoma... daily driven when it's not broken.
scoot 10-17-2007, 02:16 PM Wow. i hope your buddy bought it and is gonna fix it
Mosephus 10-17-2007, 02:42 PM I don't think he wants it any more, but I might buy it back from the insurance company. The bed and fender is the only thing marred by the accident. He may change his mind though.

Logan80 10-17-2007, 06:02 PM Thanks for the pics guys. I'm looking for a decent '01-'04 V6 4x4 Tacoma now. I'm a bit picky, so it will take me awhile to find the right one I'm sure.
TiTRD 10-18-2007, 07:56 AM My old one:

Total'd by the insurance... over a bed and a fender ?..
Mosephus 10-18-2007, 07:29 PM Pretty much, they claimed the bed was too hard to find and would be too expensive to replace.
TacoDell 10-18-2007, 08:45 PM crazy... kinda suspicious...
But hell I don't care... But I sure as hell wouldn't let them have it... there are used beds here and there for like $ 500... Tho' if that happened to mine... it would get a flat bed/cage...
If the cab, frame and drivetrain are good... I couldn't see walking away from it... But then I need my junk to wheel with... on a regular basis...
Is he getting credit for his add ons ?.. Looks similar to my choice of accessories... used on my junk... less the dent of course... LOL
Even though the OP wants an "01 or better... I'm just peachy with the form and function of my '00... it's been good to me as well...
I have few pictures of it on the street... but wgasa...

jtaco1 10-26-2007, 12:11 PM Well heres a 99, just picture it as a 01-04, the paint was oxidized pretty bad, so we machine polished, looks a little show truckish now, but she gets wheeled and serves DD efforts. Dual cases are going in within the next few months :D

84scrambler 10-27-2007, 04:13 PM not to hijack the thread but how well dose it work and is it worth the money, and how is it on the freeway.
It is one of the best things I have added to the truck. It folds down in about 15 seconds totally out of the way for hauling or when I go off road. It is almost 100% waterproof and is tight when it is up. No flapping at all on the highway. Totally worth the money... just wished they had the camo when I got mine. I am buying one for my full size GMC because it is really nice to have when I want to put stuff in the back out of the weather.
Revivalist 10-27-2007, 09:57 PM Not my daily driver, but it's definitely street driven. Aside from wheelin', I use it for hauling stuff, camping, family adventures, etc. . .

84scrambler 10-27-2007, 10:59 PM you say it is almost water tight were dose it leak at the zippers, snaps? thanks
The only place it leaks is a little at the front of the bed corners, and it has to be raining hard to do so. Everywhere else is tight, zippers have velcro covers and the sides snap to the rails, front snaps as well.
Revivalist, your truck is sick, ever weighed it??
Mosephus 10-28-2007, 01:36 PM ditto, that truck is nice.
bradleyem 10-28-2007, 07:26 PM Here's my d/d. I also have a 96 standard cab getting linked on D60s

Revivalist 10-29-2007, 03:29 AM Revivalist, your truck is sick, ever weighed it??Yup. 4,680lbs without the spare tire and carrier (which are probably about 150lbs) . . . . That was also before I put on 40" Iroks on 17" beadlocks. (I was running 37" MT/Rs on 15" rims.) . . .
So I'm probably pushin' 5,000lbs.
I admit, I do wish it was alot lighter. But it's setup exactly the way I wanted it to be.
Booger Weldz 10-29-2007, 09:33 AM not quite done, but this will never sit on a trailer unless its going to moab or the hammers
mr.trd 11-05-2007, 06:30 PM Not sure if you have found a truck or not yet, but here is the add to one of my buddies trucks that he is selling. This is by far the cleanest tacoma that I have ever seen, not the most aggressive or the strongest, but the cleanest all around do what ever you want, except hardcore rockcrawl, truck I (IMO) have seen.

Infernal Jeep 11-05-2007, 10:11 PM Sweet axles mr.trd...And that is a bad ass picture, where was that taken?.
mr.trd 11-06-2007, 08:11 AM Not sure it really has a name, but it is one of the lower waterfalls on Poison Spider in Moab. It was taken in Oct. '06. It was awesome wheeling moab in the rain. Had amazing traction because the rock and your tires where so clean, no sand to track onto the rock and spin on. This is one of my favorte pics on the same trial. It really wasn't deep, just decieving...

Infernal Jeep 11-06-2007, 12:32 PM Yeah I fugured it was Moab.Sweet pics, that last one is bad ass!!!!!!
Infernal Jeep 11-06-2007, 12:38 PM I need to spend a little more time there next year and check that place out.I wheeled there last year for 3 days and it seemed too short,I didn't get a chance to run all the trails I wanted.

There is never enough time in Moab. I usually only get to go once a year, but this year I didn't go at all. But that is what saved me the cash to get the axles. Getting tired of breaking shit. Hopefully it will stop with the new axles, but I am hearing mixed stories about the rear 60. Some say I will be fine with 37's and my driving style, and other say the 30 spline D60 is totally worthless. I mean hell it is a D60, and I have yet to break anything more than ring & pinion in the rear of my factory e-locked rear end. Ohhh and I suggest going to Moab sometime in the late Sept. or early Oct. when the colors are turning, it really kick ass and it makes the girls wanna come back again.
Infernal Jeep 11-06-2007, 04:10 PM LOL,I was there for EJS last year and the weather was BEAUTIFUL!!!!.I would love to go check that spot out in your pictures.
