View Full Version : Who wants to wheel in Colorado
I figured I would post on here.
After posting this trail report
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=620567
I realized there is probably a lot of people I could be wheelin with in Co.
SW is the best forum I could come up with. I do go to Moab and Farmington, so its decent...
So who wants to wheel? Saturday, Sunday?

Start sending me plans for wheeling. I would love to join you. I probably can't make every trip but if I know in advance that they are coming, I can work the schedule around.
So far, since moving here last June, I have run Boulder Carnage, Spring Creek Argentine and Holy Cross once, and BV Carnage, Indy system and Pritchett twice.
I am game for anything no matter the difficulty so shoot me a pm. I would love to do a snow run on one of the georgetown area trails. After that, I need to get some work done for Moab in the spring :)
Went down and did Winding Stairs on Saturday.
I think for email the easiest would be if you join http://www.trailseeker.com/
(scroll to the bottom, there is a link to sign up).
We are going to Moab Nov 8-11.
Anybody want to wheel this weekend? Thinking Saturday. Indy perhaps?

I've talked to rock-rod above about heading out one of these days. I'm in the bending up a cage stage still, as well as some other small things, but if we can get some cable shifters from Northwest Fab, my buddy is ready for a shakedown run here shortly and then off to hit the trails harder.
Like above, just a little notice and I can see about heading out whenever. I work two weekends a month and have lots of weekdays off to wheel as well when the trails are more empty... two 3-day weekends a month two. :p
Head up to Sidewinder tommorrow. Meeting at Idaho Springs McConocoat 8am.

Bit of a late notice but two of us are going to do some exploring around the G-town/Black Hawk area, and maybe run up to Bill Moore Lake. We are looking for some snow to play in:)
I am towing to my friend's house in Golden and then driving the jeeps up clear creek canyon (kinda want to avoid the interstate as much as possible)
I rode the street bike up to Bailey today.... No snow!!
Leaving for Moab Thursday so I am just finishing up some details on Dodge. First road miles since labor day!

Lots of fun easy trails, very scenic for the most part.
Aregentine Pass, Bill Moore Lake, Twin Cone, China Wall, Yankee Hill, Red Cone, Radical Hill, Georgia Pass, Left Hand Canyon all are with in about 90 minutes of Denver and all can be done in a stocker.
Lots of other trails too, but playing the odds you are close to Denver.

If anyone wheels Farmington, I'd like to check it out. Wheeled all over Ouray, Silverton, Durango and Moab but never down there.
Got a 79 Cherk, 4bb 360, 33's, not locked but fairly capable.
ItsaCJ6, one of our club members lives in Telluride. Check out www.ws4w.com for the club's website. One more plug for the club: a 2007 BFGoodrich Outstanding Trails winner.
A couple of us will be wheelin' Moab on Friday and Saturday: Kane Creek and Golden Spike. Stayin' at the Redstone.
Not sure how many of you know it, but there's a big fight on right now over land use in Moab. The BLM is reworking their travel management plan, and a couple of the options are to shut down a lot of roads over there. My understanding is that the Safari trails are generally safe from being closed, but if you're into other roads, or ATV riding and dirt biking over there, you'll wanna take a close look at that plan.
Also, we're dealing with the same thing here in Montrose for the the Dry Creek OHV travel plan. The first of the four options we have to comment on closes almost all roads on the BLM land west of town, leaving only few roads and hard core trails open. The fourth option is best, but could be better. If you run our hard core trails or any of the other trails out west of town, please review the Montrose BLM's plan options and write a letter to them.

Well I am down in Durango and have met nobody to wheel with yet and have no idea where to go around here. Anyone have any links for the trails around Farmington? I am from Denver so I have been to some of the trails up north, but I have no clue where to go down here. Anyone want to meet up and get a beer or something?

I'm down to go. My only day off is sunday and it would have to be earlier.
I have a message into BLM but they did not call me back.
Not sure it will be open, don't want to trailer all the way down there and have the gate closed.... Again!
I will post up tommorrow if we will be there Sunday. I like early.

I live in Steamboat Springs and have my 40 on 49's. We are buried under 13-14 feet of compacted snow at elevation, but would like to catch-up this spring and summer to wheel kremmling or state bridge.

I'm in Colorado until 7/26 and would like to do some wheeling. Already did Carnage Canyon last Saturday (fun trail). Would like to make it over to do some of the Montrose/ Grand Junction trails and Indy but I am up for anything. Im real close to Wheeler lake so that would be easy. I'm also thinking of going down to Telluride sometime.
