Hello im new to the world of suzukis and would like some input and advice on tackling this project...i recently picked up a dead samurai tin top and then found a 4door tracker in a junk yard with the 16 valve in it. some things i would like clarified would be if i buy the conversion kit offered by rocky-road outfitters is that all i will need to mate the engine to the tranny and mount the engine? Also ive heard that there is clearance issues with the oil pan, meaning id have to lift my vehicle...BUT ive also heard that you dont need to lift it and it will fit with no modifications  ive also heard that the hood wont close once all is said and done meaning id have to either get a body lift or modify the hood? So please any and all info would be greatly appreciated if anyone has done this swap please comment. oh im planning on keeping fuel injection too by the way.

thanks

You should try being a good nerd by doing a search and then some reading on your own. All the answers you want are already here.

I've got the Petroworks kit, and it does not require a body lift or hood modifications. I think it must sit slightly lower than the other kits. I am running YJ's under the axles, with home made brackets and shackles. I think it netted me about 3-4" of lift. I also moved the front axle 1.25" forward. I lowered my front bump stops about 1.25-1.5", and it should keep my axle from hitting the oil pan. I saw an article on using a modified Sami oil pan for more axle clearance. That might help some, but I don't think you can run a 1.6 16v without at least some supension lift.

If you plan on having it be EFI you will need a wiring harness also. You do need to do at least a suspension lift in them for them to clear. And you should also have no problem with hood clearence.

Call Brent at TrailTough, He will set you right up.

You can fit the 1300 oilpan and make a oilpickup.quite easy mod. Then you would have stock clearance between the oilpan and axle. Unless you use a kit like petroworks that lowers the engine, you might need longer bumpstops/lift then
