Whats everyones favorite general fawk around ammo in the FMJ 9mm flavor? I just ordered a 100 rounds of each of the following: Sellier & Bellot, Fiocchi, Winchester USA 115gr, Winchester USA 147gr, Federal American Eagle 115gr, and Federal American Eagle 147gr. Figured I'd see which ones functioned reliably in my 92FS before buying cases of stuff.... but which of those tend to have the best storability and best brass if I choose to reload? I know 9mm is pretty damn cheap... but I figure if I wanna learn to reload.... it'd be a good place to start.

Also got myself 100 rounds of Corbon DPX +P for home defense... god DAMN that is expensive! Anyone know if those can be reloaded????

Corbon is a waste of money in my opinion. Gold Dots, Ranger SXT, Federal HST, Golden Sabre, all are great performers and do the job cheaper than corbon.

As for plinking, winchester white box from walmart is the best deal that I've come across. I haven't tried wolf or barnaul 9mm with the steel case in my Glock, but I've run it in other 9mms with no issues.

Not to totally switch gears - but since we're on the topic... I tried running some Remington UMC (white box - green stuff on it) 115 grain through my Glock 35 the other day and had masive FTF issues with almost every round. I was thinking about trying the 147 grain version of said ammo - but may just check some of the Winchester white box from Walmart. Anyone else had Glock feeding issues with that Rem 115 UMC?

Rem 115 umc runs fine in my Glock but did give my old hi power a bit of a headache with failure to feeds. Is it doing it with every magazine you have? Are you running a stock recoil spring or some aftermarket rig?

Winchester white box from Walmart. I won't put anything else (read cheaper) in my HK

WWB or reloads with titegroup powder and ranier copper plated bullets.

My 9mm is almost 50 years old, I won't run anything hot in it.

CCI Bronze. Never had a fail to feed or fire in the HiPower. I've run maybe 500 rounds through it.

Both magazines - same results. It IS a Glock 35 though - I was of the impression that they ran the same recoil spring as the 17 though. I'll try a few other ammo combos and see what results I get. Just thought it was strange as every other glock I've ever had has been 10000% reliable regardless of what trash ammo it was injesting.

It shouldn't be an issue, the slide weighs the same as a 17/22. Maybe you got a bum lot of ammo?

For plinking duties, it's hard to beat CCI Blazers. IIRC, I picked up a few boxes at a local gun store for $7.97 a box. Also, I think SG has usually (CURRENTLY) has them for $8-$9 a box. My local WalMart has WWB 9mm 115s for $12.97! :shaking:

X2
Corbon ammo is overpriced and loaded too hot for Practical self defense use. :shaking: If you can hit what your shooting at almost anything will do the job, but the 4 flavors you mentioned will do it more efficently. :D

Drunk, you need to buy a cheap Lee turret press and get to reloading. The average cost of 9mm around here is $8-$10 a box of fifty, on sale. Thats $160-$200 for 1K.
Reloading:
1k primers: $22
1K bullets: $40-$60 depending on what you want.
1lb. powder: around $25 (average charge weight of 5 grains will net 1400 reloads per pound of powder).
1k once fired brass: $20-$40
Thats $107-$147 per 1000 to reload.
ALL of these prices will fall further if bought in bulk.

If you plan on trying to shoot alot, the initial cost of reloading equipment may seem high but is well worth the investment. For the same money your putting out for 1k rounds over the counter, you could be set up with everthing to reload.

WWB from walmart.

I reload because it was the only way I could afford to shoot. You know its bad when your wife tells you that the ammo buying is putting a dent in the monthly budget.

Just be careful with the seating depth. The 9mm is a high pressure cartridge and there isn't a lot of leway.
I would recommend a dillon. If you only going to do pistol the square deal is a good start, I have an rl550.

I figured 9mm would be a easy round to learn to load. I would definatly learn to load up .223/5.56 and .308/7.62 as well... I can see saving ALOT of money on those rounds.

Close.

The 34 and 17 use the same spring, and the 22 and 35 use the same spring. The 17/34 is a 17 pounds spring, and I []ithink[/i] the 35 uses and 18lb. spring... But I'm not sure on that one. All my Glocks are 9mms.

What # followers do you have in your mags? (It's on the top of the follower, on the shoulder where it lifts up the slide stop lever to lock the gun open when empty)

Gah, I'm retarded - yet again. Yes, it's a 34. I swear to god old age must be molesting my memory lately. Follower number is 5 -

How old are your mag springs? What exactly is the "FTF"? Fail-to-fire, fail-to-feed ???

I'd go to glockparts.com and buy two of the newest (#6) followers, and a couple of mag springs, if it were me. Even if they don't solve the problem, I'm a spare-parts whore. Especially since those guys are so cheap... and they only charge you $3 to ship a whole truckload of parts. :smokin:

Alternatively, go spend $16 each on a couple more mags from www.botac.com or www.ombexpress.com - that will confirm if it's magazine related, or if you need to stop limpwristing like a little girl. :flipoff2:

Actual date on them, no idea. The gun has exactly 4 mags through it. Fail to feed - sorry. 99% of the time it won't eject the spent casing completely and binds trying to feed the next in line - not stovepiping them, just fucking it up. The gun is *almost* brand new - and prior to this ammo - I ran a 3 mags of NATO stamped 9mm with absolutely no problems. And I got a giggle out of your limp-wrising comment - I'm not a huge guy by any means, but limp wrist a frickin 9mm??? Heh, c'mon :D
