Looking to get into reloading. Mostly handgun for now 9mm, .40SW, .45auto, .357mag, but would be nice to be able to load .223, 7x57, etc.

I have been looking around at presses... Just seeing what a good beginner press would be. I have checked out Dillons but they seem to be a whole lot of press...

what are the PBB's recommendations?

I've never loaded my own before. I'm going to go straight from nuthin' to a 650.

In rig-building terms, it's like going straight to a rig with D60s under it. Go big the first time, and you won't be wasting money on the reloading-equivalents of the Dana 30 and 44 to get there. :)

I have to politely disagree. :flipoff2:
The Dillon 650 is definatly more press than a novice reloader needs. A 550B IMHO would suit the need better, and cheaper in regaurd to caliber conversions. As an example of what I mean, my neighbor (an avid hunter and fisherman), knew nothing of reloading before I moved into the neighborhood. He`s a great guy, but into the one upmanship game. I let him run my 550B and he loved it, but decided he needed the 650. He doesn`t load a large volume of ammo, mostly hunting and plinking stuff. It became a real chore for him to load his hunting ammo (press set-up etc), so I sold him a Redding Boss single stage I had. Now he use`s his 650 to load .45 ACP. :shaking: Thats a waste of money. The guy moved 5 years ago, I saw him yesterday because he`s a concrete guy and he`s helping me do a foundation. He told me he just set-up the 650 last weekend, and has only been useing the Redding press I sold him. A novice doesn`t need a 650, hell I don`t need a 650 and I load thousands of rounds a year.

I have a 550. It loads fast enough for me, and I use it like a single stage when I load for my .308.

And your not going to beat dillons customer service, or calenders.
