will a 5spd from an 87 trooper with the 2.3L work as a replacement for an 89 2.6L? i found the 87 for 100 bucks, it's got a bad motor.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work...

transmission mount might be in a different place. I know on my 86 w/ 2.3 the trans crossmember was much farther forward. 87 was a kind of transition year, so you may or may not have this problem. I would check it out before committing your benjamin to it.
