It would be cool to see grooved Gumbos, never seen that...

But isn't Gumbo tread rather hard? Like Ground Hawgs?

I grooved the center tread bars on my 38" gumbos, they work pretty good. The tread isn't all that hard.

Interco tires are made by Denman. Kind of off topic but WTF cut 'em :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Well, yes, the TSL, SX, and TSL Radials and I think the SSR's are made by Denman.

However, Boggers and Shitbirds are made by Specialty Tire of America (STA).

Silly , Groove them dogs up bro! With 44x18.5 tires I dont think
traction will be a problem. Once you groove the middle bars up ,
I think the tires will work fine.

I think you will like them better than Boggers, believe it or not.

THe only problem with Gumbo Wide Mudders is the sidewalls.

They are fairly weak.

Post pictures :D

OK, I have always wondered...I have seen Gumbo Wide Mudders, Gubo Monster Mudders, and just plain Gumbo Mudders (says on the sidewall)....what's up with that?

Is the difference from Gateway to Denman? Does anyone know anything about that? My old Gateways were made in Isreal...what happened to Gateway?

I want to see pics of what others have done to their Gumbo's. I have been very tempted to slice the pigs up, but I am undecided on the final tread I want to go for.

I was thinking about some kind of X cuts that follow the outer edge of the center tread.

anyone have pics?????

I'm going to deepen and widen the little cuts already in them. then I'll split each lug perpendicular to the lug which is like a 45 degree angle related to the sidewall.

then I'll split all the outer lugs perpendicular to the tread block itself.

then I'll sipe the insides of the split outers and ALL the inside lugs.

My best friend and college roomate is a 25% owner in Gateway Tires, owned by Dunlap and Kyle in Batesville Ms.

They own the patent for Gumbo Mudders and Buckshot Mudders.

THe 35-15 to 44-18's are called Gumbo Monster Mudders.

THe Gumbo Mudders in the 12-15 size range are all called Gumbo Wide Mudders if I remember correctly.

I remember that the 35-15's and up all had "Monster" on the sidewall and I thought that was cool as hell in my "Mudder" days.

As for the difference form Gateway to Denman, Gateway does not make any tires. They design and distribute, but they farm out all manufacturing.

Yes, my old roomate used to have some tires made in Yugoslavia and Israel, but now most are made domestically by Denman.

Denman also produces most Interco tires as well.

IF you really want to be different try some tire softening compound found in circle track (dirt track specificly) racing shops/catalogs. I know some of the competitors are doing something to soften the rubbber of swampers, not exactly sure on what though.

And the drag racers have a liquid you add to GAS to make it smell like Vanila, strawberry, orange,ect...lol but it's like $10 per tank....I wanted to get some just to mess with people on the trail...smell what???:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
