The quest for the perfect left side motormount continues, and I'm looking into the clamshell mounts used on some GM trucks. Seems like the ideal setup, but haven't heard much talk about 'em.

Why not use a solid mount?

As far as stock motor mounts go, they're pretty good. For a conversion though, I like the cylindrical poly bushing ones (for example, I think MORE makes them for heeps). If you do go w/the clamshell style, you can get poly ones that go inside the OE shells (just drill out the rivets to put them in, then hold them together w/the supplied zip ties untill you bolt them in.

That's kinda what I had in mind. I've got the Energy Susp. inserts, just need to locate the outers. I've never run solid mounts as I've always figured the vibration from this '92 4.3 would be too much. Maybe with one of the newer counter ballanced ones. It is a DD after all.

Heres what I did on my toy (I know this is a chev board but its pertinient info), I went to lowes and got some plastic coated chain cut it to length, bolted it on and fogged it with a little black paint. Good to go, and it only cost @ 5 bux.
