I would love to do this trail someday, Is/was this trail a non fulsize trail?
I see no fullsizes on any of the pictures.

it was 'do-able', but not without more than what would buff out !!!!!

You need to go back in time folks...Surprise Canyon was 2WD in the day.
Yup, 2wd long wheel base Travel All made it right up to the City. No sweat.
I still wheel with the guy who drove it up the canyon.

Heck, I talked to the man who's pontiac (or Buick or some such) used to drive up there (Big Hands George). Then came the big wash out. Talk about camp fire stories....this canyon has some of the best fodder for stories. For sure.

You are giving away your age here.

But it sure would be nice to get this trail back into our hands to maintain, and travel on again.

I had the pleasure of talking to a truck driver that drove the road to the city in his '18 wheeler', hauling some of the equipment up there !!!

Ok, Ok, I'm double checking on the 2wd part. But I think it is. For sure it's pretty darn long to make it all the way to Panamint City. But he did. :)

I have a cousin that gave a ride to Ballarat Bob with his father back in the 70's. They went up to the City in their Pontiac Station Wagon.
