Hey how good does that POR-15 stuff actually work thought I'd ask here for a better overall understanding ?

I have used the POR-15 products and they work as advertised. Just follow the preparation instructions and make sure everthing is clean before putting it down.

I've had good luck with the stuff as well.

Pain the the ass to apply if you follow instructions right. BUT, I painted my axles with the stuff (after I had them sand blasted) before I had the perches welded on. It took a sander to get it off to weld. The wire wheel wouldn't break the surface.

Its good stuff.

Por 15 is a Moisture cure polyurethane. There is nothing special about it besides the 120.00/gallon price!

If you go to a industrial paint suppler they will have many High solids polyurethane coatings in 100s of colors. There are two main types. Moisture cure and 2 part (catalyzed). They generally run in 40-50 dollars a gallon.

Here is some great info http://www.geocities.com/pucoating/faq1.htm

POR 15 seems to be about ~80 present solid.

My experience is that it is over rated even when follwing the prep instructions, there are cheaper products out there. The guys down south that live where things don't rust anyway probably have had good luck with it but then they probably would have had good luck with any paint.

Salted roads will make you wish you didn't waste your money.

YMMV, IMO, $0.02, etc.

It's on the entire underside of my Jeep! I love the stuff! To scratch it off I have to take my knife to it! Grinder is the best way to get large patches off! (Grinder works on skin, too!)

You'll paint forever to use up a quart of the stuff.
I painted most of the underside and frame of my Jeep, the bumpers and two Dana 60's with it and I still have just under a half quart left.
Just don't get any on ya.
