Did any wranglers come with dana 44 rear differentials in 1992 from the factory? Reason i am asking is a guy on craigslist is selling a diff he says is a stock dana 44 out of the rear of a 1992 wrangler. Did they have them?

Nope, that would be a D35 stock. D44's didn't start back up again until the TJ era.

I'm not sure, but I believe the postal jeeps came with 44's. I could be thinking of tj's though.

I think just about every Jeep was used for Postal Delivery.Nobody has chimed in but I still think some Canadian models had a rear Dana 44.anyone besides COVE?

I've never seen a YJ with a D44 around here , some that have had them transplanted in , but never one as original equipment . Quite possibly a myth or ..................................a super rare option.

Or it was swapped in...its not a hard swap to do. Waggy rear 44s are a bolt in more or less, the perches are a little wider appart but they are still runable. Personally i think hes full of it until proven otherwise......

It could have been out of an XJ and swapped in. The dude may just think it was original. It could well be a 44, you won't know without a pic.

Having him send me a picture of the diff is way to simple for me to think of:shaking: Good idea i actually did not think of it. any ways i talk to him again and he said it was a super rare towing option and that the 1992 yj came with a 44 front and rear with 4.10 gears on a automatic 6 banger and at this point my doubt seemed to become reality and i told him i was not interested.
thanks for the help guys and i opted out of the deal mainly because the guy sounded like a b.s. artist.
