: Save $$$ at HarborFreight.com

I just placed an order at harborfreight.com (http://www.harborfreight.com)

While entering the item #s, I screwed up and the item ended up cheaper. I noticed a pattern in the item number system.

three to five numbers, a dash, then a single number, then three letters

When the single number is changed (usually it is anywhere from 1-3) the price usually changes. This doesn't work on every item, but it saved me $30 on my order.

Thy plugging in these sample item #s to get the idea:
33390-1vga (an item # from the website)
33390-2vga (my created item #)

They are the same item, but the first one is $15.99 and the second one is $9.99

Remember, if you enter one item in and want to test another "created" item #, you must delete the item from your shopping list.

Good luck and save some $$$

And, when you finally place your order, use coupon #674-261-247 for free shipping.

What's so dishonest about doing this? It is an Item # that they have in their system.

IMHO there is nothing dishonest about this. HF puts out little flyer catalogs all the time, and the ALL have different prices on the same items. You may get 2 flyers within 2 days with a range of prices on the same items. I swear sometimes they have the same items for different prices in the SAME magazine sometimes

The point is - this is not "stealing", all you are doing is pulling up the prices from different published flyers...

I have an old mag that has it for $79.00. The number is 32888-3aph. It automatically takes you to the $99.99 one. I also tried the numbers listed above and they do not work anymore. Maybe they fixed the glitch.

All the codes have time limits - check the mag you looked at and see when the prices expire...

Are these items the same exact item (brand, color, all that?) I know that sometimes you can opt to get foreign made parts cheaper and its the same part, just made out of cheaper material, hence the lower price. Its kinda like when you get a prescription filled and you can get "generic" or "brand name" - both are the same, just one is cheaper cuz a Big Name Company isn't on the box. Dunno if that's the case here, but I try to shy away from import or cheaper parts/tools...

And, if you have a retail store close by, just print out the online price and they will honor it.

did it yesterday to get a grinder 2 bucks cheaper than the store sale price

Click on the button on the left that says "Order from Printed Catalog". Enter the 32888-3aph part number in there. It will take you to your "check out cart" with the $79 price vs the $99 price.
