I've seen pics of the Higher Heights Off Road mounting arm in the tech section at izook.com. Also, there is a pic of breeze arm on the North Coast offroad site. The pics at izook are pretty detailed. Hope this helps!

i'v seen the breeze ones, seems like the best setup, but probility the hardest to build........... this is going to be welded proficnally, not by me, it's going to a welding shop to get welded together..... but the pic of the trail tough one i'v seen looks the easiest to build, and with a little extra work i could do a full high steer....... but i didn't look at the HH ones yet, and when the pics are up on rocky-roads site of there new kit i'll find out which is the easiest then i'll try it........ anouther one that looks pretty stright foward is the spider trx one.......... it dosn't go high enough for my suspenion though....:D

I made mine out of 1"x2" bar stock. I used a dye grinder, hand grinder, and other red-neck machinist tools to shape the block to clear the brake caliper and drilled two holes. Used extended brake caliper bolts to mount it. I welded an end to this at 90 degrees, so it is in tension or compression only. I have had it for two years, and it works great. I am planning on making the same thing for the other side, and going hi-steer. I'll use heim joints on that when I do it. I don't have any pictures handy, but I could e-mail some to you if you want them. Let me know.

yes, pics, pics, pics,.................. mudmagnet@cj7.com thanks alot, thats what i was going to buy, and put one standing on its side to mount to the calliper bracket then cut an angle on the other peice and weld it on so it is higher and stays away from the tire alot more......... and i'm going with hem joints....... i think.... depending on the price.......
thanks again

Scared you too, huh?!?!?

I didn´t wanna say nothin´, seem anal and/or start a pissin´ contest, but I´d be terrified to be drivin´ around with that thang on my rig.

It looks more like something to hide and be ashamed of, not to be showin´ it off on POR...

But maybe that´s just me...:p

From 50 yards away they might look the same, but I think even you could tell the difference from up close after some squintin´ and tongue-bitin´ concentration...:flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

But seriously folks, are we trying to compare a one-piece forged and machined part to a weldment?? OK, maybe a real good job was done on the welds, it´s really not that hard. But it´ll NEVER (that´s right gents, another blanket statement) be as resistent as the forging. I´m all for well executed home-made solutions, but with steering linkages, it´s kinda good to know that you´re using stuff expressly designed for the purpose...

Just look at all of the high-stress linkage parts on any machine manufactured in series. I think you´ll see that the great majority are forgings. There are cost reasons to be sure, but inherent strength is the overriding factor...

But than again, you could easily argue that I´m full of shite...:p

I feel that it if it can last off road it will do just fine on the street. Do some of you guys stress your Sammi's out more on the mall parking lot than you do on the trail or on the rocks? :flipoff2:
Maybe I missed something but if done right I think it is fine.

Hank

I wouldn't put it on my daily driver, but for a trail rig or just zipping around town I think it's fine...

I made it griding a piece of steel and bolted to calipers support. It already survived since 1999.

I just send a picture to rockrat to post it if feasible

I dont like the one i see , but since i weld high stress components for a living, id have to say welding and good design = no problem, let u know when im done mine and post some pics (if i can)

I just use a Shite load of duct tape to hold my steering linkage and not the Wal mart Shite niether!! no this is genuine military Grade 100 mile an hour tape...

you guys have got to be kidding me..

that weldment is so friggin :rainbow:

a new steering system that is strong as all get out is only 200 dollars away.. WTF? if you cant plunk down a lousy 200 bucks for a new steering system.. just let me know what town you are in , and times that you'll be driving that I can avoid it like the plauge! LOL!!

I think Ill open up a strictly buy it shop and sell everything just to you! we wouldnt want you to have to try and fab or be creative
or spend anytime reinventing the wheel Fuck this is what the boards are all about IDEAS and being creative and sharing info but dont Fuckin Flag a guy. Just because it works for him and you dont care for the design doesnt mean it dont work or work safely
and since you have all that cash to just get all your parts I have some prime swamp I mean great orv land Ill sell ya just $41,0000000000 dollars :mad3: :flipoff: :flipoff:

Now THAT´S better!!;) The section looks heavy enough to resist bending and there are much smaller off-set loads to create a torsion moment. It´s this torsion moment that makes that welded design scary to me....

BTW, Shrock, as I said, it was not and still is not my intention to start a pissing contest. The POR board is a call-it-as-you-see-it kinda place and that´s all I did... If it works for you, then that´s great...

I started with a huge steel plate, maybe 80mm width, I got a piece of steel that give me enough dimensions on the three axis, and started to cutting and grinding, finally I machined all contact surfaces, at caliper and joints, and made the conic hole.

That is all I did, but took me two full days.
