would 5.13 pinion in a d44 be marginally weaker than the 4.88?

yes..... just look at the 2 next to each other.. 5.13 pinion is tiny....

you should see the size of my 5.89's :D:D:D pinion shaft is like the size of a quarter.

so i should just go 4.88?

someone told me that 5:13's and 4.88 used about the same size size pinion

'79 cj5, full width d44 3/4 ton front, 14 bolt rear, either 36 or 38 (havn't gotten 'em yet), amc 304, semi-heavy right foot

The difference between D44 5.89 and 4.89 is in ring gear strength not pinion strength.
