Have any of you guys ever made a drawer like Tuffys (see pic) http://www.tuffyproducts.com/other/other-5.jpg ?

I'm talking about the underseat drawer. I like theirs a lot, but i DON'T like the fact its ONLY under the seat. If you want to get into it, you'd have to take everything else out of the trunk first. How hard would it be to make something similar, but have it go the whole length of the trunk, from the "ledge" of the rear seat, to the back door? including sliders strong enough to pull the drawer out, and not have it bend? That way, all your stuff in the trunk would be on top of the drawer "cover", and you could just open the trunk, and pull out the drawer....

EDIT: I know they make "full-size" drawers, but i'm looking to have something so my kids can still ride in back...

To answer your question, I don't think it would be that hard at all, provided you had the means to make good bends and welds (if making one from scratch).

There are a couple of inches on both sides of the Tuffy drawer for clearance. You could build a shelf out of some angle or channel. Make it high enough to clear the drawer and the right width to fit between the seat and the tailgate. Then just mount the Tuffy drawer closer to the tailgate.

Look at where the seatbelts mount to the floor. That might take some more fabrication to get a secure mount.
