TheLakeRat is about to put in my p/s and Redneck hydro assist:flipoff2:, and might get the rearend welded up at the same time. I want to put a ARB in front to save the barffields. How does a welded rear act driving on the street in wet weather? My brother has a detriot in the rear of his jeep and I know a linconlok can't be any worse then that...
Thanks

Yeah it can.
Corners will be slippery, but it will not engage and disengage like a detroit will.
Personally I would still do it though..

It makes for a good time when you can floor it and fishtail all over. I dont think its much worse if any then a locker.

Unless you drive like you are 16 and out in Mom's 68 440 Fury.....oh wait, that was me!
You should be fine, just don't nail it going around a corner......I've heard they are scary on snow and ice, never tried it here in Texas.

DO the Lincoln Locker, save the $$ on the ARB. WIth an Assist and some Bobby Longfields, you will still be under the price of the ARB system and you won't be breaking the Super Birfields :D

Texican...I am 16 :flipoff2:, but down here we don't have to worry about ice to often much less snow:D
Nolen... if I didn't put an ARB in the front, what would I put up there? Seems like everyone breaks LockRights, and a Detriot is close to the same price as a ARB(but then either have to buy their compressor or get on board air). I want that "pssst" sound when I unlock it:D, everyone in this little town either has a lowrider:barf: or a poser .
ahh chirping tires, I can hear it already :D
Thx

If you want a "ppsssstttt" sound, just eat beans the night before a trail ride....
I've run a EZ-Lock in the front of my Cruiser for about 6 years...and with the 38.5 tires it's held up fine. Newfields and shafts are another story....Bobby is on my list for a call if things start junking in Attica this weekend.
IMO, running a locker versus a welded in the snow is no different. Given the limited traction snow offers, the odds of the locker disengaging is small, and applying any power will definitely not let it lock. IMO, your handling locked or welded is identical. And I love my limited slip in the winter in my pickup, since it's more predictable than an open diff. At least I know both tires are spinning instead of just the one with no traction.
Considering the cost of welding up spiders versus the cost of a true locker, if you don't like it yer only out like $50 in labor. And that welded will make a nice backup - I keep one in camp all the time, just in case.
I'm actually considering front and rear ARB's someday....want to run cutting brakes in the rear and would like the improved steering in the front.
IMO, ARB's save you little on birf breakage...the times those brake are in extreme situations, and if it's that tough, you'll likely have the ARB locked in anyways....

Lock Right or Easy Locker in the front.
People that break these run them hard and run them in the rear.
You won't break a front Lock Right....
