: Pinion angle problem

The situation:
On my build, I planned a 8.8 swap into my TJ. After Following Stu Olson's measurments and getting everything welded I decided A SYE and Double Cardigan shaft was in order.

I installed the sye (RE Hack and Tap), then we were lining the axle up, when I realized I made a big misatake. The pinion angle is at 0 degrees (just like my dana 35 was). In order to run a cv shaft I understand I need it to be more like 20 degrees to have it in line with the Tcase.

My first thought was Adjustable control arms.I unhooked the UCA's and left the LCA's hooked up, and put a floor jack on the pinion and put it where it needed to be. At that point the Track bar bracket and others bind on the gas tank.

Now to the question:
I know that only adjustable UCA's will not fix the problem due to binding, Will adjustable LCA's solve that?

OR

Would you just keep the Tcase drop and run a standard jointed driveshaft with a slip joint?

OR
Would you get a multiple double cardigan shaft with a slip joint? Tom woods makes them. (There may not be enough length on my TJ to get one of these.

There's only one correct answere--and you don't want to hear it: position the pinion correctly, and remove and replace any bracket that displays incorrect alignment.
The double-Cardin is the way to go (raises u-joint).
Anyone with a stock axle, rotating the pinion up to allow use of a double Cardin shaft has the same problem as you now have--unfortunately, you didn't "measure twice before cutting". I think we've all been there once or twice, so suck it up, and re do the various mounts, including shocks.

SO your telling me everybody that switches to a sye and CV shaft rewelds their brackets?:shaking:

I'm telling you, you set the pinion to the correct angle, then check for misalignment or binding of associated suspension components. If you have either, you do what's necessary to correct it, including re-welding brackets.
It's not rocket science.:flipoff2:

what are your coil buckets doing? pointing to the back? Id cut the brackets and do it over the right way. I messed up and put my trackbar mount on my front axle in a bad spot i just cut it off and put a new one on instead of doing it half assed. you know the RIGHT answer, dont skew the questions to make the wrong answer right.

No. He's telling you that only the COOL jeepers do.:flipoff2:

Fix it right or regret it later.

I'm about to put my brackets on my 8.8, and I'm going to set it for the pinion angle, or at least as close as I can figure. I have a JB super short, so I figure my pinion angle should be around 15-17 degrees. I'll still have to have the UCAs to dial it in.

You can get this RE bracket that will solve your problem.

Everyone that switches to SYE does not, everyone that switches to double cardin (CV style) driveshaft does, if they do it right.
