I've got an 83 bronco i want to put 3/4 ton brakes and spindles on the front of to match the rear 10 1/4 I just installed. I know the light duty (dana 44 centersection) stuff bolts right on, but I'm curious if anyone knows if the axles and outers from a dana 50 will work? More or less, I need to know if the splines in the dana 44 and 50 are the same. Any info is appreciated.

Ford 8-lug stuff won't work with the 5-lug TTB 44 but you can use 8-lug Chevy stuff. My write-up-

Um ok. Exactly what Dustin posted above. That's what I did, there doesnt' appear to be any other way to do this *reasonably.*

Do you know if any of the LD 3/4 ton stuff works? The knuckle looks the same except for the caliper mount (bigger for the 3/4 ton) I was thinking about trying to swap in the 3/4 knuckles rotors and calipers. Anyone tried this with any success?
Reportedly the ball joint spacing is different on the D44 TTB HD. So to do this you'd have to swap in the entire D44 TTB HD or cut the arms off your existing TTB and weld on the "inner knuckles" from the HD.
Actually, I seem to recall OX did this swap and just welded one of the ball joints in place because it wouldn't fully seat in the knuckle.
But brand loyalty aside, the Chevy parts are readily avail and dirt cheap, and will clear 15" wheels w/minimal grinding.

Well, I did a little junkyard engineering today. It turns out that the ball joint spacing is different between the 1\2 ton stuff and the LD 3/4, almost a 1\2 inch! So it looks like i'll be putting chevy stuff in my ford. Thanks for the info!

I see you discovered what me and Keith already knew ;) Using the chevy parts isn't that hard of a swap at all. Just about bolt-in with the exception of cutting off those caliper ears.

And you doubted us???? :) You can still weld the ball joint in like OX did.....
Of course I wonder if the spindle would then line up exactly w/the stub shaft? Might cause the shaft to operate at a slight angle at all times, even going straight??
Eh, I'm just thinking too hard.

It's not that I doubted you at all, I just like to see stuff for myself sometimes.
Thanks again!
