What years are the best and what vehicles should I look to get this out of? Is there one casing better than the other like a "K" case on a 700? Are the differences in locking and non-locking depending on years and which should I need. Any info will help.

also this set-up will have a d300 behind it

non lockup, 68-79 unit.

a good trans shop can build a quality unit for a great price. there are some cases that allow the aluminum cover to be bolted on for the converter inspection cover. This would be the optimum design.

cases are available in BOPC and GM styles, called a "fitzall" case. generally a little thinner in the bellhousing area, i think.

happy wheeling.

whoa. dang good tech but could you explain it so that I can understand. I know nothing about trannys. I know you are saying I need a non-lockup from a 70s model roughly but whats the rest? Thanks for the help!

BOPC= Buick/Olds/Pontiac/Caddy

He's also referring to a cast Alu. inspection cover rather than the flimsy stamped steel piece.
