: Sm420 and clocking the d300
WheelingPiazza 10-19-2001, 10:13 AM I currently have a D300 and a Sm420.
I have been looking into clocking my 300 for better ground clearence..
Has anyone clocked there 300?
Anyone using the Go 2 Guys clocking ring?
XJJack 10-19-2001, 10:33 AM Did you say two guy cocking ring?
WheelingPiazza 10-19-2001, 10:45 AM Listen idiot, If you want to be a smart ass thats fine but do it in the general chit chat..
Fucking moron.
The Rockslut 10-19-2001, 10:49 AM I'm using the clocking ring on my 999/300 setup. Nice setup put expensive for what you get. Makes it very nice to crank that T-case up as far as you'd like. Not sure if the shifter will clear the 420 top cover or not when clocked. Might even make it better.
XJJack 10-19-2001, 10:50 AM Relax, just bringing your question back to the top.
Mieser 10-19-2001, 10:52 AM I am not sure if you can do this or not. I think the large bulge on the drivers side of the transmission may cause a problem? I would think though that you could rotate it up to the angle of a stock D18 though? If that is much of a gain I do not know.

Flatty 10-19-2001, 10:53 AM Can't do it very much because of the infamous 420 hump. The driveshaft will hit that and you will be up that creek with a broke d-shaft. I have been wanting to do it as well, but I think I mya just sell off my 420 300 combo and go with an Autop and dual Toy cases.

Thats kind of what I thought, I have another 300 case coming and I will be rebuilding this one in place of mine and was thinking about getting the clocking ring just to try it..
O well the drop of the t-case is on the side of my front pumpkin.. Besides if it drags I will lift it more
Thanks Seth..
arndog 10-19-2001, 11:17 AM I was looking into clocking the d300 on a cj5 but the adapter to the 176 will interfere. I was also just going to re drill the adapter so maybe clock it up as far as you can just by drilling a new set of holes

Funkel 10-19-2001, 11:25 AM Hey steve... log on to ICQ on occasion!

WheelingPiazza 10-19-2001, 11:31 AM I guess I can download it hear at work
Whats my number again?
Barney 10-19-2001, 03:33 PM I clocked my NP435 and dana 300. The shifting ears on the transfer case hit the tranny, but this can be solved by getting the twin stick shifter kit from currie. This enables you to cut off the inner shift mounts on the transfer case (the twin stick doesn't use them) so you can clock it up further. Not sure about what you'll run into with the SM420 combo though.
I don't know where Ant is on this one but he knows all about clocking 420 to 300. You might be able to find him on the src page. He has a flat plate between his frame rails under his cruzah.
Monkeyboy 10-19-2001, 11:20 PM Steve I was going to clock my Dana 300.
I decided not to after I notice that my NP435 hung down just as low as the dana 300 in its stock location.
Figured why the hell would I go through the trouble if shiats still going to hang down.
I'm not familiar with the SM's but you might want to take a look at that.

Ant has a SM420 - Atlas II using an AA adapter (not D300). The Atlas II already has (5?) different clocking mounting holes so you can rotate it where you want.
The AA adapter also has 2 sets of holes so you can clock it a bit further. Yes I am running the Atlas which will fully clear the 420 hump even at its fully clocked (flat) position. The atlas if I recall is 1 or 2 inches wider than the D300.
WheelingPiazza 10-22-2001, 09:48 AM Thanks..
I was looking at it this weekend, From what I can tell there is no way to clock the d300 with a sm420 without the front drive shaft hitting the SM buldge..
O well.. My be an atlas is in my future
Thanks for the information..

Nothings impossible
You can do the rediculis, and do a dana 300 flip then clock it. And get a new drivers side diff front housing.
HAHAHAHAHHAHA
WheelingPiazza 10-22-2001, 11:13 AM Very true nothing is impossible..
And no I already have my front end stuffed and locked now its just a matter of welding the purches on and hanging the damn thing.
