: Narrowed Bed

Has anyone ever narrowed their bed before? I'm thinking of taking maybe 6-12 inches out of the front and angling the sides so the back is half as wide. Kinda like Walker Evan's S-10, but with a floor.
I would want to put it back together so the tailgate still works. The problem I see is the corners are 90 degrees, and need to be more like 120* or so.
Any pics, hints or ideas?

What? "Loose the bed and tube it" wasn't helpful?!?!:flipoff2:

Not really. That's what I was thinking of before, but I like the use and looks of my bed. It's also a DD, and I don't need the extra attention from Johnny Law.

It's called "Boat-Tailed" and it would be a little bit of work, but not impossible.

For the 90º fix, you would probably have to split it on the inside at a 45º angle and then bend it out so that it would then be straight across the back. Then, fill in the gap with new sheet metal and trim the tailgate to match.

That's what I'm thinking I'll have to do. Thanks Joel.

Tube frame the bed, line it with aluminum sheet, and bolt your bedsides to the tube. Probably easier than all that bodywork type stuff. I hate body work.:flipoff2:

Hell narrow the gate. cut the bed where you can get the taillights. bob it a few inches. live the the angle change where the side meet the tail at the lights. It you put the seam butted right up to the tail light it would not be very noticable.
Where Johnny law is going to hang you is the tires extending beyond the fenders Unless you want to leve it full width at the wheel wells and the come in behind them. Then just make a cut behind the wheelsset the tail where you want it and weld the cut off fender back at an angle.
