I've been looking for something that is durable and takes up the least amount of space for carrying spares and tools. Does anyone use surplus rocket or 81mm ammo boxes???

amo boxes work great, they are tough and most seal up so they are water proof

I have a pair of them where my jump seats should be on my 40. convenient to get to, and hold up well to abuse!

I use a Rocket Box for all of my camping gear.

Spare (2-man) tent, ground-tarp, cooking stuff, canned foods, forks/spoons/blah, fire starting stuff..

It just sits outside until I'm ready to go camping, then it gets thrown into the rig..
