: Mid 70's IHC 3/4 ton 4x4
texican 06-21-2002, 08:42 AM Posting this to see if anyone has an interest. I traded for a 4x4 ex-army IHC has a D60 rear and D44 up fron, 304, sweet shifting 4 spd. and a divorced Rockwell T case with a PTO pn the side, I was going to part it out and use the stuff to build a Rock Crawler, since then I have gone a different direction. Anyone have an interest in this rig? I'm north of Dallas Tx. Body rusty, no fuel tank, no title. I have around $750 in it.

ol John Henry 06-21-2002, 08:55 AM I remember when that truck was on ebay many moons ago:p
Chief yelling alot 06-21-2002, 09:00 AM should be an np 202
jdjanda 06-21-2002, 09:06 AM As much as I hate to say this. You might make more money if you part it out.
The axles are a great swap for just about anything, are they 8 lug?
Sell the motor, t-case and tranny for parts.
Sell the body and you should have close to $1,000
texican 06-21-2002, 10:03 AM Yes I listed it on Ebay and despite my best attempts at an accurate description, all the idiots that were interested actually wanted to drive it to NY , or Calif. etc. I am considering parting it out, just easier to sell whole, what part are you saying should be an NP202? I don't know squat about IHC's other than wheelin' with a couple of Bad a** Scouts from the Dallas area. The tranny in this rig is one of the nicest shifting truck tranny's I have ever felt, tight and close between the gears, what should it be?

texican 06-21-2002, 10:05 AM I missed answering this, yes they are 8 lug wheels.

Kinda looks like a 74/75 based on the grille and the hood bulge in the center/front.
Which would be DISC BRAKE and OPEN KNUCKLE.. of course, it still has $$$ rotors.
I'd rather see it sold as a whole.. why scrap an otherwise good truck just because you could make a few more bucks off it? :(
If it's a 74/75, it's a divorced NP205 t'case.
The NP202 went out with the old body style!

Based on the mid 70's I took it be a disk brake open knuckle 44:question:
Chief yelling alot 06-21-2002, 11:06 AM probibuly HD 44 open knuckle with drum brakes can be converted to disk with 30 spline axels

not mine
I got that closed knuckle 44 with drum
$ 40.00 for a set of shoose and about $25.00 ea for wheel cilenders
and about 5-10 for springs
tsm1mt 06-21-2002, 11:10 AM If it's a 74 or 75, it's disc brakes and open knuckle.
If it's a '72, it's probably closed knuckle, definitely drum.
If it's a '73.. could be open or closed, but still drum.
Now, look at the grille.
It's NOT a '71-73 Grille, is it?
Sure looks like a 74-75 grille, since it's not ugly enough to be a '69 or '70-71.
tsm1mt 06-21-2002, 11:13 AM Further..
This is a 1972 T'all - it's only a 1/2T, and got open knuckle 11x3 drums up front.

Higher Res version of the pic (http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/8_29_2001/Dcp_0006.jpg)
Look at the grille design. Look at the hood, particularly the center of it.
Now look at my '74.

See the grille? Imagine it blacked out.
Look at the leading edge of the hood - see the bulge in the center? It's more pronounced than the 72 T'all hood - you can SEE the '74 bulge, but you have to look for the '72 (mostly it's just a couple ribs, not a bulge)
The '74 has the grille pushed out in the center to match the hood - the '72 (and other 69-73 styles) doesn't.
Old Scout 06-21-2002, 12:35 PM Gee Tom my 72 has a 79 grill!

Yeah, I guess they could've swapped the HOOD, GRILLE - it's been done - but if it's a "mid-70s" it's a 74/75, since there wasn't a 76 or 77 TRUCK made..
Since it's already a "mid-70s" 74/75, and it has all the outwards markings of a 74/75, I therefore would offer up it's most likely a... 74 or 75.
I'm also not sure if the '74/75 grille swaps into the older trucks or vice versa.. just about every darn thing on the 74/75 is specific to those two years..
jdjanda 06-21-2002, 01:18 PM Tex,
Does the truck have Disk's up front? Hopper maybe work a little photoshop magic to see you can hilight and enlarge the wheel area so we can settle this

Smack  :D
texican 06-21-2002, 02:57 PM It is an open knuckle disc front, and the T case fawkin' huge, divorced and has a metal tage that says Rockwell on it, a guy that rebuilds a lot of tranny's, and axles looked at and said he had seen them, but only in a 1 1/2 ton and larger chassis, never in 3/4 ton, the PTO on it has front and rear yokes on it.
Can't find any vin info or serial numbers to pin point year of birth.
