So who's planning on going? More importantly are people still going to try and show up a couple days early and get some pre-rally 'wheeling in? I just made my reservations at the Moab Valley Inn where the event is HQed for tuesday Sept. 10th-Sat the 14th. What are you all doing? Hell I'd even let Way guide me through Golden Spike again. :D Your buddies Cherokee really got around!

I'm going, but don't know when I'm going to get there.

I need to get my room squared away I suppose pretty quick.

I'll either be there early, or stay late, maybe both. I have some business to attend to while I'm there that can't take place during the rally.

Anyone else?

Well, there is a little story behind the hub nut tool. I was in Moab a while back over the summer for a week stay. I had plans to raft, mountain bike, rock climb (with hands not tires), hike, camp, etc. I met a good friend down there that had a blue cherokee. We had told ourselfs that we were not going to wheel and that it would be an adventurous weelknd instead. With all of my adventurous gear, I emptied out the majority of the tools in the back of my rover so that I could fit all of my junk. Well the second to last day we were there after biking all of the trails, etc. We couldn't resist. Knowing that I am great at breaking things we decided to do a really easy trail (Golden Spike). Met Fear factory there and had lunch with him and some friends. After lunch on a flat section I grenaded the bell (CV cage pretty good and star still good?). With very few tools, I pulled off the wheel and Fear Factory loaned me several tools that made getting to the CV possible. Not being an expert at pulling it apart, he new exactly knew the procedure cold, and jumped in and really helped me out (more like did the work for me). He hobbled my ass off of the trail and helped me over several obstacles in three wheel mode. Thanks to him again, as he and his friends saved my ass with our 50 piece socket set and pliers we were trying to get at the CV with:D

I now resist the erge of wheeling when I am camping over a long period, unless I have the proper tools to go wheeling with.

LOL!

There's nothing like a convoluted inside joke to keep things entertaining.

Sounds like a field repair par excellence!

Wish I'd have been there (I always have my hub socket tool).

I'll for sure bring enough crap to change a CV from now on too!

PS a hub nut tool!

I thought you were supposed to use a hammer and an old screwdriver? You range rover/d-90 guys and your tools kill me. You can change an axle with an adjustable wrench, a hammer (or rock), and a screwdriver. If I am really lucky I remembered to bring my big channel locks. You guys whip out the air tank and impact gun.

Actually I let my friend Jim Pendleton do most of the work, I just supplied the tools and entertained the women folk while you wrenched on it. :D

Who are the trail leaders for the event? It said they would be doing Strike Ravine/Lower Helldorado; how is it? It seems like the event is a day shorter this year, only 3 days. Seems like Bill Ritchie was talking about showing up early, you in on this Bill?

I am planning on coming up the weekend before the event. So I expect to be in Moab on Sunday night. I plan to come even if I do not get the 110 together in time (although I might bring it all frankensteined). Sandi will be flying up later in the week. If I don't bring the 110, Sandi and I will need some spare seats to ride along.

As far as trails go - I definitely want to hit SR/Lower Hellderado again, and head up Upper Hell, as I will have no rear cage to grind this time (not to mention 38's, crawler box, etc). Other than that, I am up for the silly hard trails as usual. Maybe hit Rusty Nail on the way to Double Whammy (which I am dying to try in the 110).

Is everyone staying at the Moab Valley Inn?

Blister

ps. The D90 is no more. Stripped her down to the bare frame, and the axles are now under the 110 frame!!!! Woohoo

Sounds like I might have to move the schedule up a little then to get some more wheeling in. Jim will be breaking a new rig in as well around that time.

Anyone from the southeast going, I've got a guy who may be interested in transporting several rigs on a wedge depending on the number of vehicles he could take. PM me if interested.

Not going to Vermont, but you can go with us to Moab!!! I will be driving up there alone and could use some Irish fellows along for entertainment!!! Sandi is going to fly up later in the week. You guys are welcome to stay with us here in Houston again (I might actually take you to Rick's this time (http://www.ricks.com/). If you are lucky you can wrench on my truck again as well (woohoo). I would even let you use my BFH for a few swings.
