ever since I sye'd my tj the output shaft seal has leaked. Maybe I screwed it up on assembly. Anyway I was wondering if I have to order it from JB conversions or if I can pick it up locally with a part number.

it is possibly leaking around the splines and not leaking past the seal.

did you put RTV or that grey goo sealant on the spline shaft with the star washer and is the yoke torqued to spec?

positve, already checked that and I can see the drip forming at the lip of the seal. Thank's for the input anyhow.

mine leaked until I put goo on the splines and torqued the crap out of the yoke. Hasn't leaked since last august, original seal.

I have not done a SYE seal, but here are a few tricks I learned back in the day doing truck brakes and other fun jobs.

1. Go to Nappa and get a good fawking seal, non of that cheap Autozone crap. Take your seal in and they will match it up.

2. Use a good driver so it goes in straight. even if it bends a little it can fawk it up.

3. Put a coat of grease on the seal lip. This keeps it from getting hot and melting the seal lip until a little fluid passes by to lube it.

4. Make sure the area around the output shaft to seal contact area is clean and smooth. If there is a groove there, you'll need to sleeve it.
