well I am starting to build my 4 link (using profits kit) and i was wondering on strength and ease of build why not just tap the end of my links for the hiems instead of using the supplyed weld in insert? wont it be stronger to have the tube taped?

I think most people go with the threaded tube fittings because they do not have an access to the tap and a lathe. Nothing wrong with tapped dom tubing.

the problem with ths weld ends is that the threds ends where u weld and the insert is only 1/16 thick where u weld to tap it would be stronger

Depends how big your arms are.

I'm guessing the male stud for the rod ends are 3/4-16 NF. You may need to drill out the middle to get the proper diameter of pilot hole. That's where a lathe would be handy. Also, chucking the tap in the tailstock would make certain your tapped hole is concentric.

You can tap them by hand, I've done it before with 3/4 16, but it's a lot of work. Thumbs up for who ever invented the weld in's!! Made my life alot easier!

If you do tap them by hand, be sure to use 1: good quality tap, 2: lots of cutting oil, 3: and counter bore/taper pipe first.

I had TJKen(KORE) tap my control arms and I do not regret it!

1.25" JJ Left and Right so I can adjust them on the vehicle. :smokin:

If you are doing it by hand, get GOOD machine taps, do not bother with the hand taps. The machine taps are stronger, sharper and usally break the chips as you tap. We tap 1" npt's with our hands at work because you cant get a drill or power tool into the area, so its do able.

I did mine by hand the first time, then made new ones later on and had a guy at work put them on the lathe. I will NEVER do it by hand again! They weren't perfectly centered, it took forever and was a major pain. On the lathe he squared the end, perfectly centered and did all 4 in the time it took me to do one. If you can use a lathe.
