: How wide is your cruiser? (OUTSIDE OF TIRES measurement)

I'd like to know how wide people cruisers are...using the total overall width at the outsides of the tires. Also, how tall to the top of your windshield frame. Thanks.

I'm not interested in the WTW cause spacers, tires, and wheels can have a dramatic effect on overall width.

Mine is 78.5" wide front and rear
Haven't had a chance to measure the height yet.

83" wide and 81" tall...

Was 82.5" wide with 35x16 boggers, should be about 81" now with MTR's. Don't have a windshield frame, and I can't remember what it is to the top of the cage. I'm not at home, but just judging from my memory of how tall I am in realation to my vehicle, I would say it's probably right around 7' to the top of the cage, which was about 1" or so higher than the windshield frame.

I was going to try to go narrower, but it seems like the UROC competition courses aren't as cone-laden as they used to be. Our width didn't really give us any grief in Cedar City, whereas last year in Cedar it killed us.

Yeller is 74" with the street radials, 35 1250 r 15
I would guess 77" with the 35 1550 TSL/SX's those wheels have another 1/2 off set plus the extra tire width.

Thanks for the replies guys:)

I'm just trying to get a feel for how tall/wide my rig is when compared others. Only two wheeling trips on it and not used to it yet. I just put on 1.25" spacers up front and have 38.5x14.5s on it which makes it pretty wide.

mines 62 wide, You may wanna re-measure "suka" thats means that between the offset and the width of the wheels, you're only like 7" wider than the flange to flange!

Mines 81" wide and about 89" to the top.

62" WMS to WMS, 3" BS Wheels, 42 x 15" tires

The 42's are advertises as .5" wider than the 38.5 SX's but they are more like 1-1.5" wider.

Dude!

What's up Newbie :flipoff2:

Glad to see you got some tires to go on that beast!

How long till you go back to Alaska?

My 55 is 73" wide and 76" tall.

Windshield frame doesn't quite make sense on a 55, so I measured to the roofline near the windshield.

Measured at the front axle. I've got a stock '76 front axle, 10" wheels with 3-7/8" backspacing and 35x14.5 SSR Swampers.

If I had to do it over again I'd have gone with 2" or 2.5" backspacing on the wheels. The tires fit perfectly inside the wells without any need for a flare. Wheels are custom, made from LC centers and generic outers, and the LC centers meant the least backspacing I could do was 3-7/8".

Yea, there fun. Big difference over the 33" BFG's. Won't know about Alaska till this spring. I basically told them, if they don't mind; leave me here unless they can get me back to Alaska. Tired of moving. Plus I'm taking a Welding course here at the local Votech. Enjoying it. Can't wait to start on the Cruiser projects.

If I had your driveway and view, there would be no reason to leave it, except to go wheeling.

Hey man,

1) Did you go with the Boggers or TSLs?

2) When are you moving?

3) Pictures? (I know that is a lot to ask :flipoff2: )

Hey man,

Nolen, I am moving on July 4th, next Thursday. I went with the 39.5" TSL's. they look nice! I will be breaking them in on the local Waco trail this Sunday, so hopefully i can post some pics Sunday night, or Monday. I will post 'em here and in Gen 4x4. You will really like the new Decals, hehehehe.

thats pretty fat then, what sort of diff clearance have you got?
more than a D70 or less?

haveing any problems, with it like being too wide for some trails or not really?

what are your thoughts?
street drive it much?

BJ On ROIDS -

My diff clearance is about 1/2" better than a 14bolt. I dunno how that relates to a D70, but prolly similar. i haven't had it to any trails yet, but i don't see it being a huge issue in the desert. The big TSL's make it go a little faster which is nice, with 6.72 gears, and they ride ALOT better than the boggers. Overall impressions are very good. it is very stable, i sidehilled it about 35* yesterday, which was a joke. It will easily go to 60*, prolly more...

thanks champ.....

how much can tehy be shaved...are you considering this or has it got plenty at the moment?

elf_cruiser
06-27-2002, 06:36 PM
BJ - I have 11.875" of diff clearance right now. I believe that they can be shaved up about 2", so that will put me in really good shape. I have not done it yet, as it's not a priority right now. I am currently needing a front detroit, a cage, and a winch. Those are more necessary items for wheeling and competition...

Will post pics sunday night, hopefully...

yeah, thats what i meant by (or does it need it yet)

i realise you probly spent months getting those things under there and have no desires to be pulling and cutting them up, especially since you have it driving :D

Mine is ~77" wide - it just squeezes into my 14' x 6'5" trailer deck (the lugs just rub)....and it's ~84" to the top peak of the rollcage since it just squeezes into the 7' garage door.....around 82" to the top of the windshield frame.
