Does anyone happen to know where I can find reliable/trusted information about the issues going on right now. I am writing an exploratory paper for school about the issues at Tellico and the different sides to it (TU, USFS, and SFWDA) and what is currently happening.
Any information from any side of this arguement and origins of Tellico would be appreciated.

I've already found informatoin from SFWDA's website, the Southern Environmental Law Center, and a few news papers. I just seem to be coming up short.

I've also heard that the runoff/silt from the trails does not harm the fish, but haven't been able to find it written down anywhere. Can anyone expand on this?

I've also heard that the runoff/silt from the trails does not harm the fish, but haven't been able to find it written down anywhere. Can anyone expand on this?It doesnt harm the fish because it's natural for the runoff to enter the stream, if anything there is less runoff at Tellico ORV because of the maintenance that is done to this area. Anything you read or hear different is propaganda and lies from... that's what you should make your paper about.

The problem is, I need something to support that they are lies.

First they need to show proof that it IS causing damage. If you know of proof other than what them or their associates have published that silt is harming fish, show us.

I believe the results from their studies are falsified, the trout count procedure was modified in THEIR favor to skew the results. They have a hidden agenda beyond the trout... be it for political, financial or personal gains. The sad part is they bring one of our natural resources into this to use as a scapegoat.

I am in no way affiliated with SFWDA, I am an independent wheeler that cares for his hobby and the environment. If any of us in the offroad community thought the trout were in danger, we would be the first ones to want changes made. A lot of times people forget, the offroad enthusiasts are hunters, fisherman and all-around outdoorsmen themselves and we don't need a claim of being "Unlimited" to do it. ;)

Does anyone else get the impression that HardcoreYota is probably not on our side on this issue?

You want information on what's going on? Let me know and I'll be glad to talk with you. I'll need the information on your school, class and a contact for your professor.

Let me know.

There's your answer^^^. Just get in touch with Heather and she can get you the most current info and probably a broad historical perspective. Interviews with professionals/stakeholders/experts can really go a long way to fleshing out a paper, and that interview can be cited as a source.

Also, please post up links to the SELC, PEER and TU info that you've found. I haven't read any info from either group yet that is not, at least to some extent, maliciously biased or blatantly misrepresentative of facts. Keep us posted on your paper.

Funny man... haha
I am not that man, and I am not from any of the groups that are forming the law suit, or Intent of Action against the USFS. I'm wanting to keep Tellico open just as much as you do to and am an avid off-roader.

Do us a good job and tell the truth to what is going on in Tellico!

Right now the paper I have written so far is just exploring the different viewpoints on this issue.

I would be interested in talking to someone unbiased on this that works at a fish hatchery about the runoff into the rivers harming the fish.

I'm the assistant Manager at the Tellico trout Hatchery. I'm also SFWDA's trail cooridinator for Tellico. There is a lot of bad info floating around out there on both sides. I'll Pm you my # and try to get you some solid info. ROB
