I'm looking to pick up a couple hundred pounds of old wheel weights/scrap lead for bullet making. If I have to pay what your recycler pays I will but I'm used to this stuff being free.
I can buy and leave buckets to toss them into and pick up every week or so if needed.
Post up and hook a bother up!

Any other sources for lead besides batteries (too much arsenic) would be great too such as Linotype from old style presses.

Just hit the tire stores. I got turned down from Costco -- Carson City as the dude couldn't figure out why I wanted it (doh!).
On the Linotype... the harder leads do a worse job of sealing the gasses. Most escape velocity, more burning gas past the bullet, more bore wear. A lot of shooting folks said "harder is better" but ballistics and speed have shown the softer lead to work better.
Meanwhile... back in Texas, there are enough Mom & Pop shops around I picked some up. In my case, counter balance weights for the airplane control surfaces. :)

I have about 2,000lbs of pure lead and 300lbs of WW now so I can use whatever to harden/soften.
I agree the harder stuff you can push faster but it doesnt get the bite of the softer stuff.
Always looking for more lead!
