Well I saw 3 new Jeep rubicons today on the e-way and they say they are going to make them next spring I saw them things today and thought to myself damn we have got trail problems already now we are going to get every yuppie asshole out there that has 1 that they really can go anywhere and that "I think" will cause a whole lot more problems with the land owners and trail keepers so keep your eyes open for the new new guys, I was kinda hoping to not have to deal with the rubi thing cause I really didn't think that they were going to make the things o-well watch for the posers.

Dude where has your head been????

The Rubicon is a 2003 model, Dealers are taking orders and deliveries should be mid to late summer 2002.

As for more idiots on the trail.... I think you should picket Mastercard/Visa/Amex/Discover (although they are my best friends they seem to call me on VERY regular basis)

Any yahoo with decent credit can build a credit card wheeler...

I don't think the 8-10 thousand Rubicons they are going to build are going to affect us.

Heck, I get more pissed off at those drivers with POS clapped out beat on barely running pieces of crap that...couldn't even stop the Valdez size leaks, and ask me for jumper cables cause their battery is "dead"....

On the other hand...if more Yuppies get out and wheel, then maybe they will realize that being a tree-hugger is not the way to go and maybe they will start helping us to keep trails open;)

I reallize its a 2003 model now but the rubi's I saw today are being road tested they all had manufacters plates on them, being that I live in toledo ohio where thy make the things that would be how I saw them.

But you said "Well I saw 3 new Jeep rubicons today on the e-way and they say they are going to make them next spring"

So what I think you where trying to say was:

"I saw 3 new Jeep Rubicons on the expressway today. The folks driving them said that DaimlerChrysler will start manufacturing them in the spring of 2003"

From that translation... You are incorrect, they should be available this summer.

Yes I do agree that anyone who joins are ranks are very welcome. I don't think mall crawlers will be buying them. Chrysler make 2.5 4cyl, Dana 35 TJs to hit the parking lots.

I like the new Rubicons. I wouldn't mind having one. It remindes me of when Dodge introduced the Ram 4x4 OFF ROAD--big truck, stronger axles, larger tires.... I dont't think the new Rubicons will be a problem on the trails. Once the owner sees the body damage that happens, they might think twice about taking their new shiny jeep down the trail.... but thats just what I think

4cyl D35 happen to be ok rigs. :flipoff: I dont know where you have been, But I have seen hundreds more 6cyl mall crawlers than 4 cyl. Learning about gearing and utilizing power is something mall crawlers and some wheelers arent smart enough to do.

I am not a Heep fan by any account, but I am very happy that DC stepped up and built a rig that works off road.

THe last time Toyota put a good solid axle Land Cruiser into the US was 1997, however, they produce ASS KICKING solid axle 4x4's for the world market.

I doubt Toyota or other foreign 4x4 manufacturers will be able to find profit in a "Trail Ready" 4x4, but maybe Ford and GM will step up with something.

I agree with the above, the more trail rider the less tree huggers!

I don't see a problem as long as DC keeps catering its ads toward interracial lesbian couples looking for a "secluded spot where only other Jeep vehicles would go."

Don't forget that DC got the Mercedes G-wagen also. Probably the best 4x4 sold in the US.

The problem is not the yuppies,With the exception of young kids that get these bought by their parrents. The ones that buy their own truck, for the most part, come to places like this and hook up with organized clubs. The clubs get them educated about stay on the trail and pack it out.
The real problem in most places, with running throgh the woods and dumping trash, is the jack ass local that lives 2 miles away.
I feel you that are bitching about the yuppie need to take another look at who you are laying the blame on. The only Yuppes I have seen problems with are young kids going and getting stuck and stranded in the middle of the woods because they are unprepared and have no idea how to drive offroad.
Every Jack ass I have come accross on the trail has been a local.

:serious: Although I am a "young person" I do agree, many of my age do take no heed to the importance of keeping the trails clean. I myself did not buy my vehicle. I do pay for my enhancements and anything else I can. I also am a member of a club that follows the tread lightly philosophy, and spends a great deal of time cleaning our adopted trail. I have met a great deal of these yuppies, and although they can be unorthodox in their driving styles, most of them are more than eager to clean up their mess. Most people just dont realize how touchy the topic is, and once they find out, they too follow the rules.

Speaking for my age group, dont tolerate the misuse of land, but dont just go off and complain. Take the time to explain "pack it in, pack it out" and "tread lightly" Most of us are willing to learn.

humor ???? Hell that was fact here in the west.............When you hear those statistics about 3 to1 women to men, you have to figure in the 1/4 of all women are granola eating dikes. then there is the plain dikes. and then the average dikes, then there is the fat chick dikes. (can't get guys *just other fat chicks). The you have the sleeper dikes (look strait but are dikes) then ............................It wasn't funny here on the left coast. It was PAR...

Relax man 90% of the so called "yuppies" and not wheelers who buy this thing are going to diamond plate it, chrome it, put a bike rack on it, and drive it in the snow on the freeway to go skiiing or to a casino. They are not going to camp in it or take it on serious trails. There's bugs out there that will bite them and tents are "uncomfortable". Have you ever invited a guy in a shiny Jeep to come out with you and the first time he scratches the thing he turns back and says this is not for him. And if you do find a guy who goes out in one and makes his own trails and tears up everything your out in the hills a long way away from local PD maybe he needs a little scare from the locals as to why he shouldn't be out there messing it up for everybody else.:vader:
