Swapped out my tranny (73 chevy 1/2 ton) and now it wont start, now it just back fires out the right side?

Any gusses?

put the distributor cap back on... after... you replace the cap and rotor.

when you pulled the trans, did you block up the engine? worn out motor mounts and an engine with a distributor thats close to the firewall will wipe out the cap and rotor if it gets close.

or if you took your plugs off, you might have put em on in the wrong order.

Grumpy, you are the man. The cap was fine but the rotor was hashed.

This is 2 for 2 (1 being, recomending just recase my old tranny - hence how I managed to do this)
