Take the motor off, clean it up, lube it, align it and try again. The computer blinks when there is a problem with the system. It's usually a bad or frozen motor.

the auto hubs aren't controlled by vacuum.
Try hitting the t-case solenoid with a hammer... really hard. It'll work a few times until you can swap in a manual-shift case.
Or try cleaning the connections to see if it'll engage, and if it still won't, just replace the solenoid.

X2 and there is a controller of sorts at least on the Ranger that sometimes goes bad too. It is a small box located inside the cab and plugged into the wiring harness.

While installing a stereo I accidentally ran a screw through the floor and into the wire harness going to the trans case :mad3: Push button stopped working. After some head scratching I pulled out the screw and all ok now... :)

Hit it too hard and you'll shatter the magnets in the motor housing, then it'll never work again for sure.
I'd take it apart and clean it. Even if tapping did work, cleaning & rebuilding it will make it work even better.
A manual t-case swap would certainly work the best by far however.

well he took it out and hit the button and the motor worked but it doesnt work when u bolt it back to the transfer case... buti can engage the transfer case by hand.... should i try a new motor ? or how do u align it ?
