I know this isn't too hardcore for this section but I'm looking for a decent muffler for my built 302. It's putting about 300 hp and I was running a long glasspack on it for a while but it sounded awful. I'd lie to run something like a flowmaster but ther's not much body left and I don't want to have to wear earplugs either. Any recommendations for a single 2.25 oval? Thanks.
Maybe a flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow or Suv, its milder than the 40.

For "cheap" I like Raptor turbos. Good flow.

I just put a $20 cherry bomb nitro on my sammy. Made it sound like a deep stock V8. Don't know what it'd sound like on a v8, but for $20 and 10 min. of work I'll run it till I rip it of

i run a moroso spiralflow muffler found at summit racing and i love it. its a straight through design but keeps the annoying loud exhaust to a minimal... it sounds really good IMO! it was $50 but it is small and takes up very little room! exactly what i needed in an early bronco!

fuck flowmasters. they suck horsepower. they suck with the sound. they are overpriced.
if you want a decent muffler that is QUALITY, get a magnaflow. they are stainless too, so they wont rust like other shit that is aluminized.
i had the cheap 14 dollar summit mufflers. they were very quiet, but when i shocked them with water the first couple of times, the packing came out. then the ends fell off, so i ditched those things..... the magnaflow i can FEEL the difference in power, compared to the restrictive summit ones.
i have a dual 2 1/2 in, 3 inch single out. its perfect in sound, no reverbs under the truck, and it fit between the framerails and the driveshaft. its quiet to wheel when putting around, but gets aggressive when your gettin it :D

A lot of my fellow turbo guys run them on our turbo fords...They sound great, and hold up great. I was somewhat impressed with magnaflow...just didn't really like the crappy aluminized finish. I'd go stainless. I had a used flow on my previous beater, sounded ok, had to throw in a resonator to get it to a decent db level. Hope that helps! :)

Just trying to get something that doesn't sound tinny like a glasspack, doesn't blow my ears out at idle and runs under a hundred bucks. I think I have it figured out. Thansk. PS What is a thrush style muffler? I see Summit sells several dyno max thrush style mufflers but I've never heard of this?

imagine a cheap shitty muffler you pay more for. thats a thrush/summit/dynomax muffler. all the same, crimped ends, spot welded tubes, fiberglass shit mufflers.

I have a cheap 4"x8"X14" magnaflow, just the standard non-polished stainless. Ran me about $60 from summit and it is way better than slowmaster.

Magnaflow's sound great, not too loud but have a good tone, and are reasonably priced...

Magnaflow or gibson. I have a magnaflow on my built 22r and a gibson on my '02 6.0 dd. Both keep the db's down without killing power or your wallet. Plus, theyre still shiny and rust free after a year of alaska weather.

Another vote for Magnaflow.
