: removing the plastic ARB line
welndmn 06-22-2002, 08:57 AM How do i get the plastic line off the solinoiod?
I thought you pushed the line in, then pushed the little orange ring in as well, then it came out.
well thats not happening
LOL Mark! Pull the orange ring out.
Are you one of those guys that stands there pushing on the door at the gas station when the sign says "pull?" Just kidding!
IronBenderII 06-22-2002, 09:48 AM Mark,
Cut the line and then use some pliers to colapse the tube. It will then pull out freely.

kidwired 06-22-2002, 11:02 AM oh man! you need to get a NEW selenoid:D
welndmn 06-22-2002, 02:27 PM LOL Kid, i am that close to get a new compression fitting.
I pulled out on the orange thing, it just comes off.
I tried crimping down the line with some pliers and still no good,
and i am pulling hard on this, any other tips?
The Jerk 06-22-2002, 02:31 PM push orange thing down, pull line hard, thats what i did to craigs when i switched the lines, dummy, come awn! jiMMy
Do what Jack said, then go put your fawking FI on dammit. Or go buy a new MSD box ;)
OOP'S 06-22-2002, 03:07 PM Once I had to take the fitting out of the solenoid and take it apart to get the piece out.:rasta:
RealJeepMan 06-22-2002, 03:14 PM This is just a QUICK disconnect fitting, push the little orange colar in towards the solinoid and them pull on the line as hard as you can.(ARB uses crappy quick disconnects)

kidwired 06-22-2002, 03:29 PM yeah i'm pretty sure u just push it in too, watch your knuckles!!
Pushing it in is supposed to make it bite on the line. Pulling it is supposed to release.
EDIT: Here's ARB's instructions:

RealJeepMan 06-22-2002, 11:25 PM Ausies dont know how to write inst. Read just the last line "press the flange inward, then pull the air line free of the fitting" I use and sell these things everyday at work.

All 4 Fun 06-23-2002, 02:16 AM Aussie's can't write instructions becuase most of the time we don't need them. You guys really need instructions to operate a quick disconect on a air line!!! I live in Queensland Australia and sell and install ARB products all day and have never had a problem with ARB instructions, are you sure you are reading them the right way around, remember where down under:) :flipoff2:
RealJeepMan 06-23-2002, 02:44 PM The wording is just different than it is here, I understood it. Some other people just need someone to translate.:flipoff2:

MillerTime 06-24-2002, 09:00 PM If it's the fitting I'm thinking about, use needle nose plyers and insert them into the slots in the fitting, hold the rest of it tight with a wrench, and screw the fitting apart. It is in two pieces. You can then get the blue hose out.:vader2:
Using a 20 to 24 oz. machinist hammer, strike the offending fitting, while using the appropriate expletives, with enough force to render the object in question, inoperable. Replace all preexisting hardware with something more suitable, such as a detroit locking differential. :D
Ok Mark, you push in on the fitting while pulling the line. If it doesn't work, be more aggresive because something is jammed.
May cost you a fitting.
welndmn 06-25-2002, 11:01 AM I got it
Put my feet up on the firewall and pulled!
I started to bend the 1/4 bracket it sat on, I got the line off, then quickly took a little trip down to the ground :D
But good god man, i can't belive how hard that was
"quick disconnect" only with wire cutters. off to OSH to get a normal compression gitting so this don't happen again
WOLF359 06-25-2002, 11:16 AM Blue plastic air line has no place on a serious offroad truck.
Especially blue plastic line with BSP adaptors and weird fittings.
I spent a 1/2 day running around trying to find a 1/8 BSP to 1/8 NPT fitting adaptor so I wouldn't have to use the little blue line either.
I did not however, have a problem removing the little blue line from the little quick release adaptor. :D :D :D :flipoff2:
Step 1: Cut Blue Line.
Step 2: Remove Skinner Valve ... quickly throw as far into the enchanted forest as you can.
Step 3: Install "blue valve" with quality push-to-connect fitting.
Step 3: Enjoy a valve that never fails.

welndmn 06-25-2002, 02:30 PM Yeah, i have been meaning to put hard 3/16 brake line on it, but as long as i have tons of compression union to fix the brakes (only happened 2 times), i am good to go :D
I keep the brake line next to my EFI, in the corner of the garage, i call it the "one day" pile of parts i am going to put on LOL
BJ On Roids 06-25-2002, 04:55 PM ditch all that ARB stuff and go to town with a welder
joking, i got twin ARBs and love it!!
my line just pops out, no moving the thing at all (think its broken?)
HAHAHAHAHAHA but it holds in, and gives enough pressure to run the locks......
