I was just wondering how many people have twisted their stock axlehousings while they did their spring overs. Is there an easy way to prevent it from happening when the perches are welded on?

I don't really think the twisting takes place when the welding is done. Think twisting of the housing takes place at the sae time that leaf springs get bent into an S-shape.

The same twisting forces that kill springs are applied to the housing.

hello
ive been told by many differrent people both here and in az. +many other related welding items that too much heat destroys
the strength of the metal being welded so when you get the axel tube too hot its gonna be weak..............

So....... Dont get it too hot ! Now maybe you know why i like my stick welding, i can run a tiny bead and be twice as strong as a big , hot, ugly blob of weld laid down with hardwire (m.i.g.) :flipoff2:

We all crushed our housings before we noticed it happening... Its from axle Wrap.. The most obvioius thing to do is get a antiwrap bar but we havent made it that far and just boxed in the entirer axle 360 at the perches... Im still running my crushed tubes and i cant finish them off so it must be working
