Well folks, Clark County has shown their true colors!!! As some of you know, they dropped the bomb on us (SNORE) last thursday taking away our race in Nelson Hills that is this weekend - due to the "dust attainment line" smoke-screen they use to land grab, closing off an area, stating dust issues, then ultimately developing it, selling it to developers or just closing it to public use. Think Jean everybody!! There is NO AIRPORT going in... That property is going to be housing development ... The county uses the public's sympathy to obtain support for their projects... Then once they have it secured, they come up with some excuse of why their original use isn't gonna happen and the real reason behind the land grab comes to light - TOO LATE FOR US - the land is gone...
I called this spade a spade when the proposal for Nellis Dunes came about and I hit it right on the mark... The BLM DOES NOT WANT THE COUNTY TO GET THIS LAND! They also know the County's hidden agenda and are behind us 110% in stopping them from obtaining the Nellis Dunes area... If the BLM keeps the land, we will have it to use as we have been for the last umpteen years... If the County gets it, they will move the dust attainment line or come up with some other eco b.s. reason to close some if not all of that area.. The County is looking at that for development - not an OHV park... Everybody wake up! DO NOT support this!! Start writing letters and comments on the Clark County site and send them also to the senators and district personnel voicing your OPPOSITION to the land transfer... If we lose this area, that pretty much seals off OHV riding in the Las Vegas area - next will be El Dorado Valley, which i see them lining up already... take a look at the McCullough Pass...
This is an accurate outline of what is going on, taken from the SNORE site:
"Clark county takes over the land by primm for the airport and they say no off road racing. Clark county leases land from boulder city and they say no off road racing . The reason the start at the front of the dunes was stopped was the county . The reason the Sloan leg of the primm track was stopped was the county , The reason 15 miles of the eldorod valley track has been cut was the county . Do you see a pattern ? If Clark county take's over nellis dunes will it kill desert racing and the mint track? "
And the answer to that last question is YES!! We will lose the Mint course... take off the blinders everyone and help keep our public lands public!!
