I'm gonna have to disagree with ya Mike I'd rather be dead than a vegitable with 1x1 square stock stuck through my scull besides that when they pulled you from the wreckage you could probably use on of those square stocks as a feeding tube

It is not surprising to me he sponsors a jeep club that specifically states "we are not an off road club"
Seeing things like that almost make me ashamed to live here.

I emailed him this link, he needs to know just how scarry his work is! He will be sued someday when his cage fails and kills, even if for the street, when a car wreck on the street happens it will be far more dangerous then a 1/4 mph roll.

get sued? oh how you jest, all you have to do is put on a sticker that says "only for show use" or some such crap and you are ok.
it is unfortunate that stupidity is not illigal.

ya can lead a fabricator to por but ya cant make him do it right......

he wrote back asking if I was darren, I sign all my email darren/seabass so that shows you how sharp he is:flipoff2: I do feel sorta bad ripping this guy so I wrote him this....and he is reading this.

"yes.............I know it's mean to rip on you, but think about it, when
someone gets killed or hurt useing either yoiur roll cage or that hook
boltred to the flimsey bumper, it won't be funny. look around the site and
you will see the right way to build things, I dought you will cause of the
way I just sent you to a site ripping you, but I didn't start it, read what
they say and try and look at it as a learning point. I'm sorry but I know no
body likes there work ripped apart. everyone thinks there work is the
best......................."

http://home.ptd.net/~naumiler/jeep/lowell.jpg That is the sweetest pic I have ever seen if anyone has anything more gay than that please drop me an Email I laughed for 3 minutes straight and damn near pissed myself. That should have been the Jeep they used in the movie Zoolander. P.S. the rollcage isn't pretty but its semi-functional and at the least its not very heavy:p

mike
06-23-2002, 08:29 PM
How is it even semi-functional? Other than making the owner think they might be safe in a roll (or are you talking about the stock hoop?) The tubings too thin, the welds look like crap. Pretty sad for someone "showing off" work they charge for.

SeaBass44
06-23-2002, 08:39 PM
I thought I was done ripping this guy, then I read this

"Trail Doors are solid steel welded construction. Fabricated form 1.0"inch squre tubing rather than bent round tubing, which makes them far superior in strength."

he thinks square is stronger then tube:rolleyes:  where did he study at:question:   :rainbow:

That has got to be the some of the worst fab work I have ever seen, and I've seen some pretty lame homebrew stuff. You really have to wonder how this guy actually thinks this stuff will work? You don't have to have an engineering degree, just common sense that that roll cage isn't going to withstand a roll and it sure the hell isn't for the guy that puts stuff on his jeep for looks only because that thing is as ugly as sheeeeit.
Good luck off road basics :flipoff2:

yep, but the cages on D9's are square ;) IIRC square is indeed stiffer than round tubing

Sad thing is that that pavement pounder isn't safe for an easy roll on the street much less wheeling. But whomever is going to drive it is definitely safer with the fiberglass hard top on at all times too.

I don't know if I would have emailed him to make digs at him. More or less suggestions with educational links. :flipoff2:
