I've bent my second inner tie rod now. Both were on the driver's side running 285 MTRs with a 3" lift. Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone else had problems with the steering coming out of alignment even after moderate wheeling?

Yet another example of why I'm so disappointed that Toyota chose not to equip the FJ with a solid front axle.

I think that would be the real solution to your problem. It's a pretty big undertaking, but there's a lot of info on Pirate on how to perform the Solid Axle Swap.

Well, I've got a '76 Land Cruiser that I should be working on rather than tearing up the truck I drive to work. If I was going to do that much work, I'd point it to the FJ40 :).

2nd one...

I've been wheelin' my 3rd gen 4Runner for 4 years, now running 35's, locked, and I haven't bent an inner tie rod.

Seems weird?

Are you putting the steering in a bind and fighting the wheel? The Rack and Pinion type steering doesn't like that kind of treatment.

No, I try to take it easy on it. I don't seem to be doing anything more than the other FJCs out there with me. The only real difference is the MTRs.

There have been a few folks at fjcruiserforums.com that have had to replace their tre's for various reasons.

I searched over there, but I guess I didn't search good enough.

Yep i have bent 2 also. I'm running 34" Maxxis Buckhorns.

I wheel mine pretty hard and have hit stuff both times but i will say they let go(bent) alot easier than i thought they would have.

I have also lost 2 rear pinnions. Yukon 4.56's, I am now putting a 9" in the rear with a 9" in the front to follow close behind i hope
