RIGHT NOW I USE AN ARGON MIX TO WELD....I GO THRU IT TO DAMN QUICK. CO2 IS A LOT CHEAPER TO FILL AND THEN I CAN HAVE THREE ALUMINUM BOTTLES CHILLEN READY FOR USE FOR THE WELDER OR POWER TANK.
WHAT IS IT LIKE WELDING WITH CO2? OH YEAH 220 MIG
IS IT WORTH CONVRTING OVER?

It works. The Argon mix is better. Used CO2 for a long time. Use the mix with the 210. Still keep CO2 with the 110

I don't see any problems using CO2. Argon/CO2 will give you a cleaner weld, but CO2 will provide better penetration. I know lots of people that use CO2 because it works well and it is 25% of the cost of Argon/CO2.

I thought about switching over but after a long talk with the saleman at Phoenix Welding I decided to stay with the mix. The #1 reason was spatter. The weld inside vehichles a lot and controlling the spatter from the mix is alot easier. Saving seats, carpet, guages, and windows can make up for the added costs. Plus the welds look better and even if someone knows dick about welding they will recognize a pretty weld.

Mix is definitely cleaner, but although thats not the only benefit, doesnt outweigh the cost of it compared to straight CO2. If you can spare the money, go for the mix, if its not that big a deal, just save the cash and go straight.

I use CO2 and it welds fine...maybe not as clean, but with my welding skills thats a moot point. I really like that I can use the same tank for welding and as my on board air. I use a 20# tank for both.
