her: what is that.. thing.
me: it's the new Jeep.
her: new?
me: well, new to me.
her: it's wasted! why did you buy that piece of crap.
me: well, you said you wanted somehting bigger than your civic to carry your 16' kayaks, and it's got room for 4 people and the dog. we can take it camping on the beach and sleep in the back.
her: ....I.. am NOT sleeping in that thing.
me: let me clean it first, you might like it.
her: I would have preferred if you ahd just gotten a CD player for the civic instead of a whole truck.
me: it's got a cd player in it.
her: it's got a CD player?!?
me: see? you're not even giving it a chance.
her: it's trash and I don't understand why you need another jeep. you're wasting your money.

edit:
it's a 1978 Jeep Cherokee Cheif. it's got a 4" susp (maybe), 3" body, 38" swampers, a 360 with a brand new holley on it, a t18a, a d20 and 44s front and back with 4.56 gears. it also had a newer set of very nice bestop seats in it.

It's hard to reach some people. It is possible to actually see my wifes eyes glaze over as I describe my latest jeep purchase.

Yet she is happy that I keep every mechanized, electrified, plumbed thing on our property running. Just don't tell her how!

Go figure.

I love it. But i think its definately an "eye of the beholder" kinda thing. Maybe if you spend some time at the upholstry shop, and asked her if there's a colour she could live with...??

the interior isn't so bad. the P/O put new top of the lineBestop recliners in it. the "smell" is coming from 3 layers of mildewed, oil stained shag carpeting on the floor. I've never been afraid of an automotive task, but the carpet scares me...

To be fair, maybe you should not only post the Jeep details but also post "her" finer points (i.e looks, income level, any special skills, is she a lawyer, is she bigger than you, etc.) so we can more properly evaluate your Jeep vs. "her" decision.

dont feel bad.. I call it a driveway ornament... she calls it a flower bed... her intent (if she could) would be to dig a hole... put the truck in and plant flowers in the bed....

Geeezzz

why cant they understand....

notice the last thing she said "You're wasting your money" exactly right. Maybe if you took it to a buddy's house and got it running instead of towing the thing up her reaction would have been better. My wife had a new Rav4 we had to get rid of for a Kia Rio Wagon I hate that car but that was the swap for the minivan for her. Now if I want new axles she gets the minivan so the 2002 Rio is gonna be traded for a f&^*cking minivan maybe get her something different than a Civiv and you can bring home whatever no questions asked worked for me:beer: Does Teraflex make a lift for a Toyota Sienna and what about 4to1?:rainbow:

OF COURSE I'm wasting my money! see, by law, the auto manufacturer must inform the customer that a particular car will suck the money out of thier pockets. they do this by putting a little emblem somewhere on the vehicle that says "Jeep".

and it does run:flipoff2: it just needs some lovin.

Mrs Sundowner won't drive a Rav4 or anything that's an automatic. she thinks it's :rainbow: :D
she'll learn to love it, just like the CJ. I rember when I had the crappy 85 "Blazer of Glory" in college. she hated the BoG, but loved driving it becuase it had 17.4 times the intimidation factor of her honda civic.:D
